If everyone has to drink bottled water for fear of typhoid, random bacteria etc. in the water, how about the local food in restaurants or street vendors? Isnt the food cooked in the same water? maybe im outta line here, but my question is do westerners moving there "have" to go through a certain getting sick phase? I mean i hate needles, prob dont have the right insurance to cover them anyways and i Obv dont want to get sick. I realize it might be different for everyone, but did a lot of guys go through a really "sick" phase.
99% of the time you wake up with diarrhea, take an immodium, and you're fine. The other 1% you go to the pharmacy, take whatever they give you, and you'll be fine in a few hours.

Can anyone recommend a way to store a laptop and other valuables while backpacking around the country. There has to be a better way than storing it in some hotel where the maid can steal it, or paying rent for an apartment that just holds luggage.
Do any type of secure "storage sheds" or safety deposit boxes exist here?
Im in a little bit of a pickle as to where to begin. ive never really stayed outside of the country for long (planning to stay in Thailand 3 months in jan.). So once I get the thai visa, plane ticket and i arrive w/ a laptop, American checking account and a debit card....
---How do i fund the poker sites, once im there an open a new account.
---How do i cash out enough money for rent/other expenses, just go to thai atms w/ an American debit card?
--- do i need to set up a thai checking account?
---- how/ where do u cash out a check from the poker sites?
----when u create a new poker account, and they ask u for location, u just put Thailand even though its "illegal" to play there?
