120 sqm serviced near Ploenchit and Wireless for 25k tb per month? I just call complete BS. There is some catch. That's just too good to be true.

uh no its a decent price..
ploenchit is not such a good are.. and 30k baht for a serviced appartement in a rundown hotel+crappy internet is the normal price

i paid 25k baht a month for an average place @ sukhumvit 22 85 square meter... super overpriced electricity though.. and worst net ever

and my friend he lived on the other side of the street for 30k baht on suk 22, he had sick floors, a super nice couch, huge TV 80square meter.. nice kitchen, huge bedroom.. everything was new.. even the AC's.. super calm building with nice pool and view.. very calm area..

Are you mixing up the areas? suk 22 is rather far from ploenchit/wireless, and the ploenchit/wireless area is rather nice. It's a block away from alot of the embassies, etc. Places on the wireless side start around 60k from what I saw. Very small places near ploenchit around 30k. Best place I saw was a small 1br on suk4 for 25k tb.

If you can tell me the name of one place I can get a 40sqm+ in that area for less than 25k tb I'd love it. I'll be moving in a couple of months and love the area.

well.. i dont know.. the prices you are quoting are obnoxious. i have never seen that and cant even explain how u get quoted that.

I have never seen a serviced apartment in the suk2-22 area over 40k baht a month

i mean my GF had a friggin condo at ratchadamari(my memory is fading but the street langsuang or whatever the super rich street is)
its 30k baht for 2br 70sq furnished in a prestigious building

and i paid 30k for a 120sq meter in sathorn which is a pretty nice area too...
i paid 28k for a serviced apartement at grand president on soi 11

just search the web, ull get way better deals

going to be arriving in BKK on Sep. 10. i am super excited but also a little nervous as i've done nothing so far in the way of looking for hotels/rentals.

generally speaking, how much more should i expect to pay/month if i only want to rent 2-3 months at a time (as opposed to signing on for 6 mo. or whatever they usually require)?

my rough plan now is to find a decent but fairly cheap hotel to stay in for my first 2-3 (?) nights and use that time to scout out something to rent (i should also be able to decide by then how long i want to stay). im probably going to budget around 700-800/mo. for renting, based on what i've read here that should be enough for something pretty decent right?

is my plan ok or??? plz offer advices

Wow insane thread. Im 100% checking out thailand for a few months in early jan. b/c of this thread. Thanks to all the contributors. Jeez its like paradise island similar to Hawaii, but affordable. Things Im def gonna check out

--Siam Paragon
--waterfalls. idk where but waterfalls
--wake boarding, (club taco)?
--snorkeling, -Khai Island
---water ski
--scuba diving
--massage on beach
--nightclubs
---soi cowboy
---bars, obv
--soapy massage, obv

possibles
--"royal treatment haircut"- forgot who posted but
"Seriously getting a haircut or just a shampoo here is a friggin royal treatment. we found this new place in bangkok near SIAM and i went there twice in 1 week(second time for shampoo) just the shampoo, it took 7mins with the conditioner, then put her nice boobs(very cute girl) on my nick and got my hair dry, then got the hair dresser to put high quality glue.. all for 120baht"
--James bond island
---place where they shot the movie the beach.
---Golf
---Full moon Party

A balla condo/house/villa with other 2+2er's, would be sick an ideal. Grinding/drinking/partying/clubbing/relaxing on beach in paradise w/ others who are dedicated to poker= the nuts

I'm middle stakes player 2/4nl mostly, 22, graduating college in dec. I guess my budget for everything would be around 2k Usd+ a month. I consider myself to be a pretty sociable person, and open to new adventurous things, but i defiantly don't want just random arrive in some foreign country not knowing anything/anybody. Obv trying to convince non- poker playing friends to take 3 months off work to visit thailand isnt gonna work, epically if they dont wanna read this thread. Anyone looking to go around Jan. Pm me, and/or if i could meet 2+2ers already out there, show me around/the ropes obv meals/beers on me.

American TV dinners would probably cost like $20 due to all the costs involved. They have Thai frozen dinners but the food usually isn't very American.
