So I emailed green bank about the fees for receiving intl. wire. Here is their reply

Quote:
According to your enquiry regarding about to transfer funds from overseas to Kasikornbank account, we would like to inform you that the correspondent bank will charge the sender of funds thus the charge rate will depend on the conditions of the correspondent bank. The beneficiary will also be charged by Kbank on the rate of 0.25% of the transferred amount (minimum 200 baht and maximum 500 baht)

Please note that, if you transfer to the account that already existing, the currency will be changed into Thai baht automatically. In addition, to transfer to branches outside Bangkok and vicinity, there will be additional fees, which are leased line fee of 20 baht per transaction, and 10 baht for each 10,000 baht transferred (minimum 10 baht and maximum 750 baht).

For the exchange rate of transferred fund from overseas, we would like to inform you that the exact exchange rate for international wire transfers are unable to be calculated since there will be changed fees from sender's bank so the exchange rate depends on the date when cleared funds is received in beneficiary's account. However, you can contact our officer at K-Contact Center Tel. (66) 2888 8800 and folllow the instruction then press 1 press 0 and press 2 from 8.30am to 16.30pm on working days in order to ask them to check or you can check exchange rate by visit www.kasikornbank.com >> Rates & Fees >> Currency Exchange Rate (TELEX TRANSFER).
telex rate seems to be 0.4-0.5% worse than xe.com rate

200-500 baht per transaction at 0.25% transferred amount so anything less than 80k baht will get charged 200 baht, 80k-200k 0.25% of the amount anything over 200k will be charged 500 baht

plus if you are outside bangkok (???), extra 20b/time + 10 baht per 10k so another 0.1%

so if i deciphered that correctly, a 100k baht wire to my phuket based acc would be charged 0.4% ish + 0.25% + 20baht + 0.1% = 670 baht

so i guess she forgot to mention a fee or two or the telex rate is usually a bit worse because it's never been that cheap

Woah finally some action! I once did a runner from the gogo without paying. I was drunk and super tilted about how long my 1k bill was taking so just left.

Eventually I went back and payed it with no problems and its definatly the best thing to do.

bitcoin and you can sell the BTC if you need/want with circle

for accidental hit and running, go back and pay+tip, if for some reason you think they are angry and might over react, perhaps send a friend to pay and apologize

If I were to go on a moto road trip for a week or 2 around thailand and sleeping in my tent, where could I leave my laptop and extra clothes/shoes during this? Or would I have to pay a week or 2 rent just to house my few possessions? Assuming I didnt have a friends place I could leave em at

A friend of my wife's boyfriend from France was recently denied a new account at Kasikorn. They told her he had to have a work or other appropriate visa and not a tourist visa. Not sure if this is related but FATCA compliance should be coming soon. They said by the end of the year even after the coup. So may want to be careful if you have a lot of money in an account over here and are not reporting it to the IRS. For U.S citizens anyway

If you get denied at one branch, just try another...

Not all green banks will let you open an account without WP

It still cracks me up everyday in Thailand when I leave the house the mental checklist i have to make. Keys, wallet, AC off, small bills for bribing police in case I get pulled over.
You can't go walking out of the house with only 1,000's.
Does tilt me how 7-11 never has change in the drawer for 1,000 though. Always have to dig under the counter. It's like 25 euro, wtf?

trololol?

1000 baht is more than 10% of the average monthly salary of a thai

and it's probably a good idea to hide the excess cash somewhere where so some meth head doesn't get so much when they come rob your store

tip for ATM use. don't draw even thousands. instead of 10k, take 9900 so you'll get some smaller bills as well

Yeah I was gutted the other day when I got pulled over for driving without a helmet and all I had was a 500 Baht note. The officer instantly gave me a big ****** smile and I knew what time it was.
