nice write-up there Mark. I pretty much agree with all comments regarding food. I know around December is high season, but is it still a good time even with all the tourists? I'm thinking about coming for ~2 weeks over the break from uni.

LoL I just watching watching this awesome new show called Generation Kill (about the us marines in iraq) and there are lots of thailand references

I thought falang/farang comes from indochina where the French were colonial overlords. The Lao word for France/french is falang (there are no "r"s in Lao) and I assumed it came to be used for all white people because most white people were french.
