That's obv a personal matter of taste. Especially if it's just for 15 months and coming straight from farang land it could be a really nice experience for u.

If fooket is the first place in Thailabd/asia you have ever been you'll prolly love it.

I hate the place with a passion, I will never go back there again.

Looking for a dry fit type of underwear that won't get damp/soggy when you're in your condo just using fans. My cotton ones are absorbing too much sweat when i grind with my laptop on my legs even with a fan pointed towards me.

If you're serious, why?

I've been week in Phuket, week in Samui and month in Bangkok. Besides prices, what's wrong w/ Phuket? Plenty of degen, beaches, no smelly Bangkok streets and traffic jams.

Also loved Phuket 's open bars @ Bangla road where you could sit down, have a beer and just observe madness on street.

A week in Delhi/Iraq is going to be a great experience, but you wouldn't want to live there would you? (taken out of context, but making the point of a week in Phuket is totally different from living their laaang thaame)

The main problems people have with Phuket/fooket is the terrible transport system which is overpriced and run by the mafia. So you're only option is to get a motorcycle, which means you can't drink when you go out, or if you don't feel comfortable riding a motorcycle which many people dont, enjoy paying 600 baht + per taxi ride . Bangla road is full of hookers which is great for 3 days at the most, or someone on a short holiday.

The police seem to hate tourist, scams at every corner, but hey it has sand and water.

I don't like Phuket, not exactly sure why but can tell you few things.

Bars close early, though thats an issue at many places in Thailand but often a way around it when you know the places so not a big problem really, however I was sitting drinking in front of 7/11 with some motorbike taxi's cause I didn't know the place to well.

At a certain moment I plan to go home and I'm walking and motorbike taxi rides besides me and asks if I want to buy some drugs. I say no thanks in a polite way and he starts talking about other stuff and we havea nice chat, I'm drunk as hell obvious.

Then a police car arrives and asks me if I just bought drugs, and they search me.

Same night I also got into a group fight with farangs and thai people and a lady boy attempted to rob me but I got money + wallet back after making drama.

Anyway, neither of this ever happened in Pattaya, while it did happen in Phuket in just a few days, so yeah, Idk, but I don't like it too much.

Samui is a better choice but I feel quite isolated there as it's a pretty small island.

I never stayed long in Bangkok so only took tuktuk's and taxis but yeah they have the skytrain/metro type of thing of course.

Phuket could be ****** awesome if you removed all the thai people from the island and most expats there.

I think phuket is the murder/crime capital of SEA.

The advantage of Phuket is a decent infrastructure, nice weather mostly, clean air, some really nice quiet beaches. The disadvantage is everything else you can think of. I too hate Phuket with a passion.

Yes maybe wrong about transportation as I forgot about public transportation like BST.

However KSR is really not that bad, it's just a backpackers place same like here in Sihanoukville, I've been there once I think but a friend of mine stayed there longer and though it has a bad reputation it's really not that bad at all.

Maybe it are not your type of people.

There are douchebags everywhere and at places like KSR or Sihanouville there's a larger percentage of them but to completely avoid a place cause of that.

Both places remind you of being back at home without the class. Yes it's competently subjective, but there are better places than KSR in Bangkok that give you the same simliar experience in terms of bars/clubs, but in better areas with a better "class" people (who dont wear singlets/sandles/ignorant) while being very close to mrt/bts links without having to use a rigged taxi or tuk tuk to travel.

If bars and people watching is your thing then Pattaya is much better than Phuket.

What pills can you just walk in and buy at the pharmacies over there? Looked online but couldnt get a straight answer... Can you stroll in and buy percs or something similar or are they strict about it?

I rather hang out with normal people wearing sandles then snobs like you.

Srsly, **** off with your better "class" people.

I'm the complete opposite of a budget tourist but I like the tourists here in Sihanouville a lot more then those arrogant "better class" people that you see a lot in Thailand these days.
