i don't fully understand why but thai's seem to have an ingrained cultural aversion to stealing. they'll lie to you and deceive you into paying too much money or giving them money for bogus reasons, but they wont straight take your money (on the average, obv there are exceptions).

999/1000 times you can pass out drunk with a stack of money at the end of your bed and when you wake up it and the girl will be right where you left them

Plus if the girl knows you live in Thailand, she realizes that there's a good chance you'll run into her again or find out who she is.

I used to have mad paranoia about this sort of stuff. So much so that one day after a girl left I was CONVINCED that she stole my cell phone (the maids found it later and put it on top of my dresser).

But yeah, no point in stealing from you if you've got a super high chance of seeing her again. Thai girls will not steal your passport/wallet but they WILL steal you heart

Ha, I was once convinced a girl stole my ipod but later I realized I hid it under a cushion so she wouldn't steal it. It's still a good idea to hide/lock up small valuable stuff. You can always use the "wait outside while I clean up for a minute" excuse.
