Anyone know how to get round Thailand's appalling international bandwidth?
Any non-local server I'm looking at pings of 400+ and an upload speed of 0.02Mbit.

they also have the best customer service i've ever encountered

this, they are awesome.

I have a 12mb true line and I average download speed of 10mb from my seedbox in Europe. Never tried to upload but I guess it would be close to a mb. If you're trying to game I'd say forget it. I'm not an expert but I thought pings have more to do with physical distance between you and a server than how fast the internet is.

Best pings I got were around 290ms mark to Los Angeles. But they slowed in the evenings from about 4:30-7:30 pm when all the kids got online.

This true internet in apartments is really solid and reliable?

Booked for 50 mb for 2800 thb with my friend. We will be watching many streams so this should be ultra good. Opinion welcome. We ll stay Kyne by Sansiri close to Thong Lo BTS

There's a big bottle neck accessing international servers from Thailand. Don't expect anything close to real 50mbs speed. That being said it should be overkill I would hope for streaming although I wouldn't be shocked if you still had buffering. I will be interested to hear.
I moved recently and went from dsl to true's cable internet. I see improvement in YouTube vids but my download speed has dropped a little bit that could be a router thing.

I'm finding I'm fine with youtube, google and big companies with servers in asia.
Pokerstars there's a good 1second delay between me clicking something and it happening. It's the most tilting thing in the world when your playing zoom.

Try a 3g stick. I found my ping was often better on that than it was on my ADSL. I used to use that for gaming, and still use it for poker.

Which network would you recommend? Would tethering (wireless windows 8 doesn't support USB) my mobile be the same?

Need to get myself a proper contract tomorrow now my 7day happy sim has ran out.

Tethering should be the same, but I guess it depends on the quality of your phone's antenna.

I use Truemove H.

I hope I won't have much trouble obtaining the visa, just worried about when I finally get to gates of Thailand.
what would be one of the cheapest + refundable tickets leaving thailand (specifically for this "ongoing travel" purpose)? anyone know?

Just reserve a ticket online and print the reservation thing for the visa. You can cancel it after.

They wont check at the airport

Hi,

I'm in Chiang mai and I'm looking for an apartment for 2 months.
Anyone have good tips ?
I found this : http://www.airportresident.com/web55...12721&lang_id=

The location seems okay, but they don't give that much informations/photos.

I'm looking for something near the square, with 1 separate kitchen and one bedroom, and with swimming pool. I can pay up to 20k baht for one month.

Btw, if anyone can add me to the Chiang May Skype groupe, I will be very gratefull

Philippine air checks the ticket number if you are going there from Thailand. They can really be a pain. FYI

I think if you get True move stick and a living arrangement where you have several wifi options from different buildings or apt blocks etc you can manage poker quite fine. I got a wifi amplifier from Ralink (so golden) and paid the front desk guy for the password at a building next door. I eventually only needed True as a backup to my wifi sources. (I used my building and building next door, when it rained or the rare time both building's wifi was out, True move...) Ralink Wireless amplifier (Amazon) allows for a very quick switch between wifi sources if you save the sources in Ralinks utility. You should have your True stick plugged in and ready to activate at all times however. Ill try to post a screenshot. Ralink wireless was a really great purchase before I left for TL.

The Schwab account... Cant agree more. So much gold (literally)...

Yeah, I use a high gain USB wifi adapter, and it's the difference between having 2-3 available networks and 15-20. Really useful.

I know french customs checked my gf return ticket last year by calling the company.

booking a random air asia ticket is definitly better than giving a fake one considering how cheap they are and that you can use it for a visa run.

1. set up expensive escort service for 'serious players' who shouldn't have any problem finding girls
2. insult the market
3. don't give any info outside of PM
4. profit?

Info would be appreciated
Noble ora - older building, decent size for the price, location is good
the clover- depends which building u live in, ABCDE, AB is ****, CDE is good. overall this building is good for the price
49 plus - location is very ****ty here, very hard to find taxi on this street. u have to walk to the main road. from the units i seen in this place its pretty old. and the price is similar to the other ones.
49 plus 2 - same as 1
siri at suk - location is very good. the price is higher than the other buildings. i think the cheapest one i found was 30k for 1 bed which is 52sqm. they are starting construction next door, so becareful which side of the building your picking.
noble solo- i suggest this condo, location is further down thonglor a bit. but its very modern and the price is almost exactly the same as the other ones mentioned above but its a bit bigger.

so either clover or noble solo imo

Thanks for opinions frankpark9 , we had already booked 2room/2bathroom here: https://www.facebook.com/keynecondo

I really liked this, really close to bts and on Sukhumvit with good internet connection confirmed by Korean trader who is client of my agent and he has moved through decent numbers of apartments stopping here.

Footie is 1 or 2 times a week ? I know one is on sundays, there is some during midweek?
