Feel like trying something new
I'm looking for an elusive "issan club" in bangkok, the only thing I know is that it's not in a tourist heavy district, they have regularly famous issan band playing there, the beer is cheap, it's full of girls and there is no farang to be seen.
Read and heard a few very good reports on the place, it even has an english website ( put online by a fan ) but I can't find it.
Any help?
EDIT: Found it!!

ISSAN TAWAN DAENG on Soi Pattahnakan (continuation of Phetchabury Rd after it crosses Suk. 71, Klong Tan) Most taxi drivers know it, about a 70 Baht ride from central Bangkok.
There are two clubs across from one another; the one on the left (from Klong Tan) has the more popular "Luk Krung" and "String" pop music, the club on the right on the other side of the road has authentic "Mor Lam", the music that is the heart and soul of Issan and "Luk Thung": Thai country music.
It will be filled mostly with Thais but is very "Farang" friendly. There is a seemingly endless procession of singers, both male and female, each doing one number at a time. They are backed by an excellent eight to ten piece band and an enthusiastic chorus line.
If you sit near a speaker, it can be very loud so you might want to bring along a bit of cotton for your ears.
The crowd is very friendly; the dance floor is small so people end up dancing next to their tables and your neighbors will invariably encourage you to join them. It can really be a lot of fun.
Of the 300 or so people on any given night, a few will be farang, but most will be Isaan. There are gay Isaan people (and ladyboys) there too, and there is no discrimination, everyone is welcome. Enthusiastic Isaan people will encourage you to get up and dance, Isaan style, but will not be offended if you say no.
The food is ok, not great, but prices are reasonable. For a good choice of table get there by 9pm, especially late in the week.
There is always a line of taxis out front to take you back to your lodgings
