They will likely want more than this, if only for show, both in the form of cash and gold, which will be on display for the guests to see. Your land deed doesn't look sexy. Thai people that I know are giving 100,000 baht, but Westerners tend to give more (like 300,000), as it is...

Her cousins parents are keeping it and giving it to them when they see fit as the kids that got married are only 18 so sounds fair enough i guess. But obv the daughter is spewing hard lol

apparantly i just need to flash my land chanote as the sin sot and thats ok.

i told them that its my culture that the brides family pay for the wedding but that went down like a lead ***** balloon.

Getting married sounds like a terrible idea to me in general. So paying a big sum of money to get married seems downright ******ed :P but what do I know.

a close thai friend of mine said her family( lets say family worth somewhere around 5mil usd, relatives also well off) said her parents expected a million baht but that they would give it back as wedding gift...this had nothing to do if it was farang or thai guy.

It matters more how much money her family has than it does how much money the guy has.

also , the potential husband is not supposed to do any negotiating of the dowry- his parents are supposed to meet with the girls parents and discuss it.

Time for another installment of Income & Expenses. This section is where I break down my income and list my expenses for each month along with a short analysis of how I think I can improve on them in the future.

as I have a week missing I have averaged out my total monthly out goings were :

Outgoins: 24,332 baht

Profit from "working online" :49,500 baht

Net Profit :25,168 baht

my first plan of action (POA) is not to buy anything from the 7/11 any more, everything is slightly more expensive then the Big C or Tesco.

I went to the big C today and saw the not from concentrate OJ @ 45baht per carton on offer, so I loaded up on 3 instead of just buying 1. In hide sight I should of gotten like 5/6. I also saw they do a economy size cereal boxes for 95 baht, so I bought two of them. I also have a big C cash back card, im not sure how they work though.

My condo has a free water machine down stairs so ill be using that instead of the 1baht machines, and I always have a 600ml of water in my bike basket in case I eat out. so that's 10bhat/meal saved. I also noticed a few days ago I put on both light switches when i enter my room, just doing the one for now, wonder how that affects my bill. Latest Bill was 720baht 8baht/unit.

My other two things are to find some decent bread for cheaper, i think 120baht is a bit high, but its nice, and instead of talking the elcrotlide powder @ 6baht a sachet, I will just eat a meal after training which is high in potassium, sugar and salt.

The final adjustments I will be making is purposely starting fights when my GF comes over so she gets angry and we dont dine out for dinner. You will notice this more in the tail end of week 3 and 4 on the excel sheet when she runs out of her "cerealy" and its my job to pay all the bill instead of splitting it.

I give my self an appox budget of 27,000 baht as I think that's all I need to live the lifestyle I desire in thailand, I dont go out my way to underspend, but then im not a spew tard who spends alot of money so other guys think im cool and awesome.

Will keep you updated at the end of the month to see if I reach my target set, its a visa run month so ill be having a higher budget then usual

Why do you keep Corn Flakes in the fridge, is that an Indian thing?

P.S. Songkran is the nut low. Since it only goes for a day and a half in Samui, I am planning to just buy a heap of Thai food the day before, then lock myself in my room and play poker all day.

Every year Songkran ends with fights, stabbings and shootings. I'm not sure what they expect since most people understand Songkran to mean "act like a complete douchebag day".

yes... those mother****ing ants. I hate those little ****ers. I waged a brutal and merciless war against them for a whole month in february when I was staying in ktk. Seriously, that **** got personal. My tactics included things like leaving the crushed corpses of their friends right next to the food that the little ****ers were trying to steal, just to spread fear among them.

Even though I was never able to completely finish them off, I'm pretty sure I more or less decimated the population that lived somewhere behind my desk. What's left of them are probably telling horror stories about me to frighten their children with. I imagine most of them end with something like: "and then, just as grandfather smallclaw thought it was safe to run back to the cave with his loot..."

EDIT: KTK is the nuts, but if you are staying in the old/cheaper building, be aware that it has a pretty bad ant problem (but things are a bit better in room 507 now :P)

Also, continuing my tradition of popping in just to post something completely unrelated to anything anyone is talking about...

When you first come to Thailand it can be hard to see through the lies. Eventually you understand more of what's going on and it becomes funny, kinda like now you're in the know and can laugh at all the silly first time tourists who fall for the obvious bull****. The problem is that you still have to deal with all the nonsense yourself. I can handle it though, it's an unavoidable consequence of staying in Pattaya.

A few days ago, I was walking back to KTK from my favorite italian restaurant when I heard some standard calls of "come here have 1 drink inside" from some small bar. I avoid these bars like the plague. Low/no/bad music with a few washed up girls. I'll leave that **** to pokerspiv and vucking vish. However, in this instance I happened to notice a particularily trashy-looking girl sitting inside. She had long blonde hair, lots of strange tattoos, a skirt that looked more like a belt, enough makeup to kill a medium sized animal and heels so high that even a cumdumpster as trained as her had trouble walking in them. I hadn't been with anyone that trashy for a long time, so I decided to break my rule about not going into crappy busto bars made for 50+ year old men with no life left in them (yes I'm talking about you Pokerspiv :P)

She told me her name and that she has only been working in a bar for 2 weeks. Taking note of how she looked, not to mention her strong Australian accent, I found that to be a dubious claim at best. Normally I wouldn't even comment, but in this case it was so ridiculous I couldn't stop myself from saying something. Being a thai girl, she obviously got upset. How dare I question her honesty? I gotta say, there's something so weird about how emotionally invested thai girls seem to get in their own lies. They get genuinely angry when someone calls them out on their bull****. Either that or they just lie more to cover up the holes in their old lies. No shame whatsoever. So tiresome.

Having to listen to so much BS every day, it's really refreshing when you meet something as rare as a (relatively) honest thai girl. Ironically the most honest thai girl I know works on soi 6 of all places. I have known her for 2 years and she told me she averages 5-10 customers a day, and that by the time I had come to see her that day she had already been with 3 dudes lol. I appreciate the honesty. In a city so filled with lies that it's basically a mirage, someone telling you the truth is really refreshing. For example, a few weeks ago I texted her what she was doing and she responded that she had just been with 2 customers at the same time so she was really tired. Not bad. A little later she texted me that she was now on a total of 10 for the day, so whisky and shisha in ibar would be all on her that night. She delivered too. A fun night was had by all. She even got drunk and offered to pay for my room at KTK the next month and we could live together. She's pretty awesome, but letting a soi 6 girl pay for my room, paid for by whoring herself out at soi 6? That's a bit too pooter-esque for me. You start to go down that road then one day you wake up covered in piss. Was kind of an ego boost to hear her say it though, so I asked her again later when she was sober, and she repeated the offer :P
