long & boring version: showed up at 10, after an hour wait told i got a ticket to the wrong counter, told to get back at 1 when they open again, get back, wait 1 hour in the ticket line and then told to get back tomorrow since queue is full for the day...
It's messed up whatever time you go... if you arrive at opening time (doors open at 8am, start serving at the counters at 8:30) you get a number which is the order they give out tickets in.
I went on Monday, left my place just after 7am, can't have arrived any later than 7:30... anyway I was 42nd in line to get a ticket and when I got a ticket I was 16th (ticket 016) in the tourist visa extension queue. Wasn't home until 10:45am, fun times
On a sidenote, both times I've been I've sat next to donks trying to extend 30 day visa exemptions expecting to get another 30 days (when in fact you only get 7 days). I watched the first guy's hopes crash and burn when his ticket was called and he was told 1900bht for 7days, the second guy, because it was 3 months later and I'd since become a visa pro, I was able to explain his fate to him.
