oh and as for condos, Thong Lor is a great area and alot better long term location than asok unless your an Ogre sized bogan who will be at soi cowboy 5+ nights a week for months in a row.

if you're definition of asoke is only soi cowboy and soi 23 from cowboy to suk then yeah. never see tourists in interchange 21. see a lot of thais. lot of tourists soi 11, soi 4. not many around asoke.

asoke has to be the most convenient location in the city. everything on your doorstep. quick trip to thong lo if you wanna pretend you're hi-so with your one bed condo.

what would the time difference be in taking the cheap bus from BKK to pattaya or taking the bell transit service?

since its such a short trip i cant see it being that much quicker

I'm going to go out on a limb and say the cheapest possible alternative is your sweet spot.

I think the only thing that adds time (sometimes considerable) is hotel pickups / dropoffs. if they are going station to station wont matter

the cheapest way would be a bus from Phuket >Surat Thani.

Surat Thani > Bangkok by either bus/train. Total journey time for this is around 8-12 hours depending.

then a flight from bangkok to HCM.

bus/train or bus/bus should be no more then 1k baht toal (its what I paid this time last year so maybe slightly more).

fastest

Phuket to BKK via flying then BKK to HCM. check online for flight prices.
