Online poker is possible but illegal in Thailand (if you are caught) but I personally would not try it since they do monitor the internet (no free speech). Also, unless you are 50 years old and can a retirement visa, you can't stay there long term unless you have some kind of job where they cannot find some native Thai person to do it (like teaching English).
Disagree with all that. Know lots of people who buy weed from other westerners, don't carry it around, and only smoke in the privacy of their home, with no problems. Don't believe there's a specific law against online poker for westerners, or that any non-Thais have had an issue. Laws are grey, it's not a developed country, internet is not monitored effectively (e.g. most poker sites uncensored), bribes common, etc. You can renew education visas indefinitely or get a business visa readily. Or have a work permit via a western company with offices in Thailand.

Smoking weed is no problem and not much risk go to prison.
Its not big deal to get work permit or educational visa so you can stay long time.
In thailand everything is possible, just u need some money to get it (wp, ed visa) or get away from something (smoking weed).

me too, even with better emergency services and driving standards in London. less visual criminal threats as piepounder mentioned, but I haven't compared actual violent crime statistics
