We are six regulars who lived with poker. We just arrived last monday in Bangkok. This place is awesome but we can't stay here to grind coz we'll be crazy.
So we take a plane to Chiang Mai in few hours.
This place is more quiet, the weather is nice and we can rent a big house with 6 chambers, private swimming pool and good internet connection.
But we know Chiang Mai is in north so obvisouly no beaches...

So we are looking for a place near the beach and why not not far to Bangkok with a good internet connection. But we don't want to go in Pattaya because we know it's just the city of the sex in the world.
Why not Pukhet but we are interested for others cities.
Can we have good internet?(we know the best fort that is Bangkok or Chiang Mai) maybe with satellite or something like that.
Have you got some advices for us?

Seems like an horrible reason not to go there. City of sex? Oh no! I really don't want to see that!

Beach plus good internet : pattaya, phuket, koh samui, maybe hua hin the rest is probably lacking in the dsl department. pattaya and hua hin are close to bangkok. ( 230 and 350 km )

wow just saw a sick house for rent on my street

only 1k a month

its pretty big, theres a big tower with the water reserve and on top of that theres a little desk with huge lights that keep away the bugs.. theres enough place for 2 people to grind there

The grass is clean as hell, the house is pretty nice looking inside too

i heard weather is very hot this time around in thailand so I was a little reluctant to go... isn't it like raining season right now? how is it?

p.s) if weather is good enough, i would like some recommendations for places to go, where I can learn to surf/snorkel, not so much into bar/club scene. thanks!

In the day it's usually low to mid 30s. It's not too bad if you're at the beach or inside.

It is rainy season, but from what I understand it only rains for an hour or so then the sun comes back out. There was a period of about a week when it seemed like it was cloudy/rainy all the time, but I think that had to do with the cyclone that burma. The past week has been nothing but sunshine.

AFAIK, Phuket is the only place in Thailand where you can surf. Koh Phi Phi is only a short boat ride away and has some amazing snorkeling sites. The natural landscape is stunning as well.

Any thoughts on James Tailors? I was planning to buy a couple suits from there along with a sport jacket but I've been reading mixed reviews so I'm kind of unsure now.

We have just arrived this afternoom in Chiang Mai. We have taken a pretty nice guesthouse with swimming pool for 600 bath /night (18 dollars). Our first feeling is that city is so more quiet than Bangkok, we can breath normally, no too many cars or taxis. We had dinner in the night market which is very nice. You really feel you are in holidays.
So we gonna try to catch a big house with 6 chambers and private swimming pool toomorow. We'll looking for it onemoth if we'll have to. If we can't find it or if we realize Chiang Mai is too boring we'll move to an other place.

ps. Pattaya no good!... :-)

If I theoretically decided to move to Thailand for say a cuple of months to a year, how hard is it to find a nice place like you suggest Pumpui? And not get "touristrent"? Is it possible that anyone of you could help me with that for a small fee for instance?

Something like the house you posted would have been insane.

Note: I'm not planning on going anytime soon, so don't be afraid.
