I think your preaching to the choir in this thread. Awesome you've found a girl who understands this.

Looking to book something in Pattaya for December thinking about one of these places either Lido Beach Hotel, Royal Twins or Royal Palace. Anyone ever stayed in any of these or heard if they are any good ?

Also i would rather not book anything yet and just leave it until i get to Thailand so i can be flexible but with being there in the middle of peak season i wonder how hard will it be to find places in a good location ? Will most places be fully booked or will it still be easy enough to find somewhere if i leave it ?

^ Its the one time of the year I would say book something mate, lots of places will be full, especially mid Dec onwards.

Cheers Vish thats what i figured, i like to be as flexible as possible and am not a fan of sticking to an itenary but yeah looks like i will just start booking stuff now.

Was thinking of heading down Phukhet for a week as mates of mine are flying there from Au and then heading on to the full moon but i may just swerve it as i reckon its going to be a pain in the arse getting there at that time of year. Full moon is over rated anyways imo .

May try and persuade them head up to Bkk, anyone got thoughts on where will be better out of Bkk and Patts for Christmas and New Year, any special events or whatever going on ?

Maybe we can have a 2+2 Christmas dinner at CheaplesElbows apartment am sure his hi-so gf can cook us up a feast no bother !

In all honestly in Patts at that time of year every night feels like NYE, so I wouldn't get too hooked on that particular night. Think there is like a free NYE concert normally but I've never been. Also fireworks you can see from the beachfront.

Loads of places will be doing Xmas lunch there too. No idea about Bkk, not been there over xmas/NY.

This place does a good sunday lunch so might be an option xmas day if your in patts. http://punchandjudy.co.th/

What's the go with banking and such?
Can I use my neteller card? Do I just use my debit card link to my home country bank? Or do you have to get a Thai bank so you don't get owned in exchange fees?

Yes, you can use neteller card, and yes both the banks and neteller will rip you off with fees. If you have an address in Thailand you can get a bank account at kasikorn bank.

Each to their own. I didnt say you have to do drugs and I personally dont in Asia mostly, but there are places where the mushrooms are legal. I dont think you can really comment on the taking of drugs if you have never tryed any seems super lame to me.

I have many friends that dont do drugs ofc but they dont go round calling people that do sad, they just let the others get on with it as its their choice.

I tried to get a herman miller embody in bangkok and it was almost double the price of one in the states, and it cost about 12,000 baht to get it shipped. Herman miller doesn't do international shipping themselves, I suppose a business would need to sign a contract with them in order to sell their chairs.

I once contacted the manufacturer, who gave me a contact. There was a showroom in Surin Plaza, about 12 km north of Patong, though I never went there. But contact the manufacturer they´ll hook you up.

Full Moon party is not really backpackers and hippies anymore, it's more spring breakers, lager lout football hooligans and Australian bogans. Still fun if you're the right age group, but don't go there expecting it to be anything other than a massive booze/drug fest.
