we are only with a hired film crew no ghey guys. the client for the video is the New York branch of the TAT (thai tourism authority). that's why they can throw money at us, it's understandable tho' to think it'd be a scam at first

I'm hearing that Thailand's internet disconnects a couple times a day, and is completely unreliable. That poker houses only work because they have back up internet, which won't be an option in hostels.

Has anyone stayed in hostels in Thailand? How reliable is the internet? If I can count on a disconnect or two for 1-2+ minutes a day, I might as well stay home, because I play hyper SNGs and this will basically kill most of my daily earnings.

i stayed @ hi sukhimvit hostel in soi 38, pretty good, but if your serious about playing LOL hyper SNGs, get a back connection like a dongle.

in before bashing because you want to stay in hostels.

fwiw 6-8k aparments work out cheaper and better then hostels if you want to stay here a while

you can get cheap condos for a month at a time for the same price per day as hostels, just do that if you're here for a while

you can also have backup internet on a smartphone and have it tethered to a laptop in your hostel so it's ready to connect, or you could grind in 24 hour internet cafes in the suburbs where the internet is excellent, for 15 baht/hr
