Are there places around On Nut that sell beer during the "illegal" hours? Everytime I come home from work or from being out I can never buy from the 7/11. I'm being lazy and not getting any beforehand, I realize, but does anyone know of any stores (not the beer garden) to get some booze between 2 and 5 and after midnight?

The easiest answer probably is to stock up on them from 7-11/family mart or Big C/Tesco, during hours where they do sell it legally.

Wouldn't you also rather have a nice cold beer already ready to go and waiting for you in your fridge when you come home tired after being out, rather then having to go down to 7-11 and buy some then?

I believe the only option is a karoake joint 200 meters from the ONNut BTS on the odd side, IIRC, they sometime close at 3 AM, 100 baht for big Singhas.. not a very lively place though..

Yes I should just go buy a ton of singha tonight at Tesco. I just never think about it. I'm still getting used the random hours for selling alcohol. I know there were several "unlicensed" places in Thonburi where I stayed for a bit when I first got here that sold after midnight. Was just wondering if there were similar places at On Nut.

Can you guys explain to me why you try to implement tipping culture in a foreign country?
I don't understand the whole concept being from Europe. I can see rounding the tab when it's like 90->100. What is that, like 20c. And the possibility of getting coins back is just too much of a risk.
If this is what you guys mean, disregard my question.

Edit: I didn't look up what kind of paper money or coins Thailand uses

I tried to round the restaurant bills when I would get back <1-9RMB in China but they always refused. I would then carry a ****ing pouch of coins I could never use, and dump it to my friend when I left. It was huge but only had around 50RMB in it.

i guess you dont have a fridge? neither do i, but what I do is just put them in the bathroom sink, fill it with cold water and put the plug in. there not the coldest, but cold enough to drink when you get back from work or w/e

Some new guys posts something like this about 1-2x/week.

Here's my tip.

Get to Thailand. Search around for a condo you like. Plug in your laptop.

Poker house [x]

If you want to meet with/socialize with other poker players just follow this thread and join the skype groups.

You gotta find the mom and pop shops, there are some in every neighborhood. Your best resource for finding them is probably motorcycle taxis

Ok this may sound like a stupid question and some no doubt will mock me but ill ask it anyway.

I will spend a while here in Thailand and traveling around asia in general is there anyway I can get involved in some kind of charity or humanitarian work over there, you know building schools, improving or helping peoples daily conditions.

flame away

In Thailand you need a work to permit to do volunteer work. Probably easier in Cambodia or Laos.

You have to go through official channels there as working for free still requires a work permit. I would suggest googling for charities active in Thailand and arrange the whole thing before.
