Im at Suv airport now, arrived 5 hours early DOH! I managed to connect with my laptop to 'THAInetwork'. There are no WIFI signs anywhere so I don't know if it is dodgy for me to do that or not, anyone know?

I have now 0 baht left and 0 available funds having just had airport dinner so I budgeted for this trip perfectly! Here for 25 days and spent about 30k baht.

themandude: if you're having problems finding a cheap direct flight from Vancouver, looking into cheap flights from Seattle or LA. Thai flies direct from LAX and from what I hear is pretty nice. Northwest, Continental, a host of other airlines fly from Seattle and the prices can be good. Then just wait for a cheap fare on Horizon or get someone to give you a lift to SeaTac?

I use www.kayak.com to compare prices.

thehabit,

I don't smoke but from what I saw it's not so hard to find. I won't name any places on the web, but just ask when you get in town or send me a p.m. Usually Rasta/Reggae bars are a good place to go.

Best,
Bill

ummm...yes, you can. Then you can even ask her what she thinks/thought of it although it's probably best not to care what she thinks of you doing whatever you feel like doing.

Best,
Bill

Help request:

I've traveled almost everywhere in Thailand and the hardest thing to find is a fast reliable internet connection in a hotel.

I am willing to ship $ for quality information.

I am looking for hotels with fast & reliable internet in the range of 1000 to 2600 baht per night in the following areas:

1) Bangkok
2) Chiang Mai/North
3) Phuket/Samui/South Thailand
4) Pattaya/Samet/Koh Chang area

Best replies get rewarded. Will ship $20 on Stars for hotel(s) that I end visiting. Post here or PM.

Pools are awesome if you have a kid who's older and can swim. Think about the whole drowning safety thing.

Cool place though.

Hi I want to plan a trip on my own to thailand in August for about 1-2weeks. My plan is to stay at one (not to expensive but comfertable)hotel (suggestions? also should I book in advance?). I really want to visit those tempels in Wat pho I believe its called. I was wondering if you have some good tips for me regarding a hotel or places I should visit. I also want to relax some days on beaches there. And maiby meet up with some of you guys(?). Regarding transporation, im not that good in geograffically organizing myself so I guess taxis are perfect, although I do have a motorlicence(got it here in holland it takes pretty much lessons to get one so I know how to handle one) I think its a hassle to bring my motorclothing(lots of weight) with me or I guess you can rent a outfit there. awell if someone has some tips im still orientating what I want.

re: tipping,

i will usually just round it up, so ill give 100 baht for an 86 baht taxi fare, or 50 baht for a 43 baht taxi fare, or 400 baht for a 365 baht fare. i feel bad for those guys. many of them sleep in their cabs to save as much money as they can before going back to their home province. i am usually more generous to the guys with shrines on their windshield or who have good taste in morlam music and don't harass us about Thaskin being God.
