There actually are different monsoon cycles in some places as well though, Koh Samui gets hit later in the year for instance I believe so check that out too. Personally I wouldn't worry about it and just come here at the soonest date though. You will thank me later.
Thanks, ya I'm leaning towards Oct 01 now. My dual 30" monitor set up just left today and that was the last thing I wanted to sell. The only thing I'm really waiting for now is this beautiful weather to end. It's prob the most perfect place on earth this time of year in Vancouver (you would know). Also lots of visits with family and friends. Just got back from 3 days on Saltspring Island. Two months is going to pass so quickly!

Was going to Hua Hin with the GF for the holiday, but all the beach front hotels were booked, so settled on a beach front hotel in JOmtien(pattaya), Furama.. Nothing special but a decent view of the beach.

Hit up Walking Street to peep things out for future visits, but was unpleasantly surprised by the abundance of low quality of girls! Did all the good looking girls go home for the Buddha holiday? Quite a few places were closed, I'll probably go back when things are in full force..

Has anyone got a 15 day exception by doing the overland crossing from Cambodia(Seam Reap/Poipet crossing) into Thailand? Im in Seam Reap now trying to get into Thai ASAP.

I came here for a holiday, and was originally going to get a new tourist visa from Phnom Pehn and return to Thailand for another 3 months. Whoever, I now have changed plans, and want to return to BKK for about a week before flying out.

Im a little concerned about getting an exception to get into Thailand, because I have no proof of outward flights and a passport full of Thai Visas. (for a total of 9 months out of the last 12 being consecutive tourist visas). The rules as I understand is that I need proof of outward flights and also spent no more than 90 days in the last 6 months in Thailand.

Ive never done an overland border crossing before, so Im a little worried, as all the info on the internet seems to be either about the apparently hundreds of scams running, or official information saying that I NEED all the documents or there is no way I will get through.... But then some people say that they have been through dozens of times and never been checked for proof of onward travel etc etc so I dont know who to trust.

I could always play it safe and return to Phnom Penh and get a tourist visa but I loose probably 2 days at the least extra travel+waiting for the visa, which I really dont want to do.

Thoughts?

Like where? Only hotels that I think are in a better location are Pan Pacific at 8TL and Oakwood on Thonglor 13.

i wouldn't worry about it. you'll get the 15 day visa exemption. worst that can happen is they'll make you book a flight out from thailand

"also spent no more than 90 days in the last 6 months in Thailand."

also that rule hasn't been in use for years

edit to add: and i'm one of those people who have never been asked for proof for flights either by airlines or immigrations. only land crossings i've done though have been from laos

anyway don't sweat it

I knew I should have just messaged Lessu. Thanks

I HAVE been asked for proof of flights, once or twice on my flights into Thai by the airlines, but also every time I got a tourist visa they wouldnt give me one without proof as well, so that was my main concern.

Probably by the time I get to the border I will know when I can fly out from BKK anyway so I'm sure we can manage.

guys this is probably gonna sound like a joke but im actually serious

i think we need to take it easy on jesseu/thereald2k, or just ignore him

ive come across his kind before on another forum, made fun of him to no end, and then one day someone else who knew him sent me a pm saying that the guy was actually ******ed and then i felt bad because i was never one of those people that made fun of the ******ed kids back in high school

Ive been in Siem Reap about 3 hours so no comment yet, but Phnom Phen made me realise how ****ing lucky we are.

Although I had a great time doing all the touristy stuff, and everything went really smoothly I just didn't feel safe there at all.

Internet here seems a lot better than Thailand. Ive only stayed in 2 rooms so far but they both seem grindable, havent taken the risk yet though.

Cant wait to get back to Thailand. Quickly go to Angkor Wat tomorrow then Im outa here!

Good call. I would stay there until the summer ends for sure also. I'm definitely missing it the most during these months.
