ITT666 wtf...?
why wouldn't anyone go to china? i think it is a very interesting country to visit and highly recommend it. you might not agree with everything they do or think its a bit intense or whatever but it is certainly not an unsafe place compared to any other country in asia. needs to be experienced. and if you don't like it? move on. 2 hour flight
Not to get into an argument here, but I'm willing to bet my time spent in China and over all experience with the country exceeds yours. Regardless of that, everyone is entitled to their own opinion.
Every time I have been to China (4 times in total,) I was there to live and work, not to visit/travel.
I agree with Donols that it is a very interesting country to visit, if you never have, and would also recommend visiting it if you never have. That being said, I wouldn't stay in the same area for long, not because of anything to do with safety, but only because the longer you stay, and the more you end up living there rather then just visiting/traveling the more you are likely to grow to really dislike it there, as I eventually did. Many others I have known there experienced the same transition in their feelings towards the country over time.
So yes, by all means, visit the country, just don't stay in any one area for too long, and definitely don't stay in the country as a whole for too long.
Also if you are expecting to be able to get none hooker girls to have sex with you after just meeting you once or twice, as you easily can in Thailand/Philippines then THINK AGAIN!! it's a long long shot at best, no matter how good looking you might believe you are, and no matter how smooth you might be, bedding a none hooker Chinese girl as a foreign guy is VERY VERY hard, and near impossible unless you plan to date her over a longer period of time.
