If I cannot take the majority of what someone says seriously, then I can never develop any trust or respect towards them.

Yeah, if I come I would do the first year student thing anyway, cuz I would like to learn the language anyway.

Ok, I'm going to look more in to it. I wasn't sure cuz other people advised against my plans. So I had to recheck with actual pokerplayers.

I'll be back later with other questions.

Justin Bieber! Haha! Comedy Gold! It's funny because presumably he doesn't actually like Justin Bieber, but he wrote there in the post that he likes Justin Bieber.

I bet Ricky Gervais is kicking himself he didn't think of that one first.

You can space that out over the whole year (4 lessons a week). I'm also interested in schools people would recommend.

lot of people hate Walen, 2+2er's i've spoken too who tried it, and people all over the thaivisa language forums. all schools offer a free trial lesson, make sure you use that before paying

and yeah thats 1 year not 1 month

I've never had any problem with any site being blocked in Thailand before.

Is Stars blocked at all? Do you need a VPN to run it?

Walen is a lot tougher than most other schools, since they make you learn the alphabet before any actual conversation. It's like starting over again in Kindergarten.

dunno if i'd recommend walen for a complete newbie either

it's good if you know a few words and some of the letters already

and so far they have handled the stuff for the visa very well for me

There are 2 main considerations with language schools for long timers. One is the ED visa and the other is the quality of the language instruction. The reason I don't put cost as a consideration is because all the possibilities I looked at were almost the same.

At Walen they are very good and competent with the ED visa, no dramas.

As for the language instruction its a bit of a mix but comes out +EV overall. The teachers are nice and they really care about your learning. Its defiantly a benefit to the student that they make you learn the Thai alphabet first. The downside is that they hire unqualified and inexperienced teachers who often don't have theoretical understanding of adult learning and formal language structure and such. Also the method they use is a bit repetitive and can get boring.

I would love to hear peoples first hand real experiences with other language schools and especially universities that do the ED visa for Thai language courses.

Also there is this which serves as inspiration for men who have left Thailand to go back http://www.youtube.com/user/learntha...e=results_main
