i don't think of a prostate massage as a HJ, and there's no doubt in my mind it would be better if i was getting a BJ when it was happening instead of a HJ.

* Leaving the country isn't that easy from places like Samui. It's not like you can just fly anywhere cheaply from here, the cheapest return flight anywhere from Samui is over 10k baht due the Bangkok Airways airport monopoly. Your other option is a 12 hour boat/ road trip, awesome.
* The "other countries" you talk about aren't as interesting as you might think. I've been to KL dozens of times and hate the place. I'd rather just stay here.
* The total effect of a visa run isn't just a case of a couple of days. I am 6'4". After 12 hours of sitting on a bus, I need 2 days to recover.

But mostly it's this:

* The fact that no matter what happens, I will be subject to the whims of corrupt immigration officials for the rest of my life. Even in 25 years time, even if I got married to a Thai and had 3 Thai children who grew up to be on the Thailand Olympic volleyball team, I would still have to report to immigration every 3 months and kowtow to some low level public servant.

*It's these sort of racist, protectionist government policies that ensure that my Thai friends and their families will always live in poverty. The laws against farangs owning land, becoming permanent residents and imports are all in place mostly because Thais think Thailand should only be for Thais. And because of that their daughters will work in brothels for the next 100 years.

TLDR version:

I hate visa runs because they are a massive inconvenience, and a stark reminder that to most Thais we are unwelcome visitors who will never be accepted as equals.
yeah agree with much of this. Can't really gripe about the over 50 thing though. I thought retirement visa's were standard in a lot of countries.

you can get PR in Thailand btw. I think you have to have 3 years extension on your visa to apply. But i hear it's pretty tough and a hell of a lot of paper work.
Worth going through it if you have family i guess but not bing able to buy land is **** ridiculous.

It's also limited to 100 people per country per year.

Can yall use poker 888 no problems? I believes Betfair poker is a bit of a problem, any other big sites/networks not work from Thailand?

Are you able to deposit with a visa or master card from a Thai bank into ipoker? If so what bank? Banks have the option to make their cards not work for sites that identify themselves as online gaming. I know the standard free Bangkok Bank visa card doesn't work for example.

Cheers

yeah i saw a thread on thaivisa about this. A lot of ppl complaining as they do
Not great for me as i am UK but i guess that not too many apply fo PR in a lot of countries and also if you have family/job/business then i'm guessing u have a good chance of getting picked. If you don't have really strong committments then no real need to get PR anyway.

Have you not got an immigration office at samui that you can get stamped every 3 months? They arnt giving out standard 'O' type visa anymore so i'm gussing ur on a years visa.
Thats what i was doing for the last cpl of years and it does get a pain and expensive when you have to shoot of somewhere every 3 months.

To be fair, you choose to live in Samui. It's a well known nightmareish cost to fly out of there. Isn't there an airport in Surat Thani that is a lot cheaper? Or maybe they don't have international? Have you thought about getting an education visa?

blackrain posting here about cost-of-living/expenses is most lol thing ever. how's the NL5 shot-taking going?

edit: frankpark made the best post. like with any city bangkok can be as expensive or cheap as you make it. i know people in NYC who spend 1.5k-ish a month (incl 500 on rent) and people who spend 6k/month without realizing it.

Yeah there is an airport in Surat but it takes about 3-4 hours to get to it from Samui (depending on traffic). And the only international option from there is KL. I will probably get an education visa when my current tourist visa runs out.

But yes, visa runs probably aren't so much of a pain in the arse for people elsewhere in Thailand.

I've heard the days before the Full Moon Party are actually better than the Full Moon Party itself, is this true?

I'm gonna be around the Samui/Phangan area of the next FMP just deciding on which days to go Phangan

Pfftt. This guys problems are nothing. He has 362 bhat left in this video. One time, when living in Bangkok, I was down to my last 3 baht, yes that's 3 baht, and somehow I'm still here today.

So if I could somehow come back from down to my last 3 baht, this guy can easily come back from his last 362 baht.

Went recently. Had more fun the night before than the actual FMP. Heard this a lot from others too.

I'm in the process of buying a one-way ticket to Bangkok from the States and I had a question about getting a double entry tourist visa before I leave.

On some of the Thai consulate websites it indicates I need a round-trip airfare ticket or itinerary. I don't want to buy a round trip ticket obviously and I'd rather not buy an onward ticket with AirAsia (although it is cheap) to send in with the visa application if I don't need to.

Does anyone know if there are certain consulate offices in the States who are lenient on this? I have heard the Boston consulate is and the D.C. consulate is not. Anyone from the U.S. have any experience with this? Thanks!

I got the double entry from the UK. I just filled in the forms, they didnt even ask for a outward ticket.

if they do ask go on www.airasia.com and just buy a bkk to KL ticket, there like $50 bucks.
