Seriously, what would you do in Thailand for the next 40 years?

No but seriously its doable but not a good plan, one year two years perhaps then its about time to step out of the fishbowl again.

As people said, financially this is very doable. You would probably have to spend a significant amount of time in Thailand and make sure you really like the country first. This isn't a first-world country so you have to have a plan B if things get crazy. I've met quite a few people in your position (mostly a little older) and they invariably self-destruct unless they have a business or something else to keep them busy.

It was a longtime ago anyone did this...

the nightlife is WHY most guys cum to bangkok. the touristy things just happen to be there. touristy things can be found in any asian country, all similiar. what sets bkk apart from the rest is the NIGHTLIFE>>>>>>>>>>>lol.

the bkk nightlife scene is not overratted guys, its great!!!!!!!!!!!!

im here for a lil vacation currently and the night life is ****in great. but there is a major draw back. the amount of hookers here are just crazy. it would be nice if i can go to a place where only regular non "working" girls are and can actually try to have a successful pickup without having to spend money. im sure i can probably try to get a working girl for free but the idea of her having so many diseases cause of her working just turns everything off. are there any places here where i can try to game a non working girl. or where the majority of the girls are not working. i feel like any place i go, that they are only being nice cause they have to and not cause they want to. and this is a major turnoff.

allright, can I get an update? where are the social 2+2ers living at in Thailand right now? a bunch of us from ATL will be in the LOS for a month or so in Feb-Mar, and it's time we started figuring out where we are going. Last time we spent most of the trip in Bangkok, which was cool and we may try again, but I'd kind of like to spend a little more time beachfront.

I feel the same, It was cool the first week then it got old. But the #1 major turnoff for me is when at the end of a night a girl starts to bring up the money subject. Then I just want to headbutt her and go home.

Bkk dude, u underestimate the amount of family's and tourists that are in this country. I believe they and their familys represent a greater number than the sextourists. But I don't want to get into an argument about that, I am just saying that there is a great deal of other things great about this country other than hookers.

Pumi, yeah the water was a bit cold by my standards it might be better later. But I think youy should check it out before you go if you are planing on going in around april, so you dont go there and its all dried up.

forgive the noob question but kaah, some of those pictures look really sweet--do you need a really expensive camera or be good at photography to take them looking that good? or will a $200 camera and no photography experience get the job done?

Im going there in february, why? to get away from snow and ****ty weather here.

My pics are taken with digital system cameras and the only job I had in my life was being a photographer for a short while. So I have some equipment and experience but you can pick up a sec-hand canon 350d with some used lensed for prob 1-1.5K$ prob is the size, my camera equipment weighs 9Kg and is good for about 4-6K$(+you might bring a laptop), not so good to be backpacking with.

200$ pocket cams are handy, depends wich one but the latest have a quick startup time and a good deept of field wich makes them perfect for taking snapshots wich you can edit afterwards and get a good result with(perfect if you the type of photographer that likes to take pictures in the club/bar) but dont expect the quality of a 2K dsl with a 1K lens on it vs a 200$ camera.
