Its like I just keep thinking about how to plan my return. I keep telling friends here in the states that have normal jobs, just how much fun it really is. almost to the point where they just don't believe half the crazy stuff that happens, or don't want to change their normal comforts. you really have to go there to understand how the place can transform you. then again the place can really ruin your life if your happy now. Its easy to go and loose interest in just about everything at home.

also to the people asking how much to take, although its been discussed a lot. it depends on what u do. up to you, lol. but yea if u want to ball out every night, stay in five star hotels, eat at restaurants , drink every night, loose at credit card roulette, travel the country, take planes, etc. it would be safer w/ like 15kish usd for 3 months. i spent like 1100$ usd a week, which in retrospect was pretty hard to do, though i was ballin a bit outta control at times...

Awesome. I thought Bangkok was way more expensive.

Does internet work well?

You say the room is not very big. Enough to spend 8 hours a day working without feeling very oppressed?

Anyone ever look at the apartments called I-House Laguna in BKK, near Rachada? Not sure if they are only for sale, do short rentals or whatever. Tried emailing them but no response and no listed phone number. Let me know if any of you have details.

Condo development which means units for sale only, with some owners renting out. Location sucks though imo unless you just grind all day and go to RCA every night.

Did any of you learn the language before you moved? If so, what do you suggest doing to learn? I'm downloading Rosetta Stone right now, but is there anything else worth trying?

Get Pimsleur, and I would say that most of us didn't learn before coming here and it doesn't matter too much. Gigi was here for a few months then went home, did all the Pimsleur courses, came back, and now speaks pretty decent conversational Thai. Pimsleur FTW

yea i mean going with the whole losing interest thing/ destroying ur life as u know it, it comes to the point where instead of trying to talk to my friends into going, i feel i should not say anything else or talk them out of going. I mean some people i know are on their way to becoming lawyers, or have a very happy relationship w/ girls here. but if they were to realize their rockstar status and options in los or elsewhere in asia, it could really destroy their lives. i mean like chris rock said, a man is as basically as faithful as his options, and when ur options are mak mak large, it could lead to life tilt/problems for ur western relationships + life as u know it.

Last night in BKK is tonight then I'm peacing out, probably for good.

This city can be ******ed fun at times, but it just sucks the life out of you even for someone like me who doesn't get into nearly as many shenanigans as some of you guys here.

I wish I discovered BKK 5 years ago because I'm sure I would've loved it then, but I just need something more real these days.

So in light of my moving away, we have a room available in the house we are renting. Quinn, Andy, and Joona are staying obviously.

For those who don't know anything, the house is a 4,000 sq ft, newly constructed, 4 bedroom, 5 bathroom house on a quiet sub soi 600m from Sukhumvit next to the Phrom Phong BTS line. Rent is 35k baht/mo, $1k usd deposit + utilities with no lease requirements as long as one month notice is given when you vacate.

You could move in as soon as this Sunday if you wanted. For more information you can check the thread below:
