Hi.
I'll be flying to Bangkok on 27th. Probably staying for a month or so. Can anyone recommend a place to stay?
Edit: Budget max 600-700$ a month.

Exciting Khao San Rd combines combines lodging, food, and nightlife with authentic Thai culture! Why go anywhere else?

becoz its not skytrain accessible!

The skytrain is a glaring symbol of western cultural imperialism. On KSR you can take cheap and refreshing tuk-tuks just like the Thais do.

well then call me an imperialist.

las vegas could have learned a big lesson from the thais. build their train right down the strip(smack down the middle of las vegas blvd) to downtown. not half a mile behind the casinos so noone would use it.

very interesting article about santika on the BBC website today

http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/asia-pacific/7981841.stm

Quote:
The owners of the Santika had applied in 2004 for a licence to operate as an entertainment venue, but had been refused by the police.

The police filed 47 charges of operating illegally against the club owners from June 2004 until 17 September 2006.

But after that date there was no further police action against the club, one of whose recent shareholders, clearly listed in company documents, is a senior police officer, Colonel Prayont Lasua.

just like the wire! prolly pretty frustrating to be one of the lower-rank police officers and grind out these charges before getting put down by the higher-ups.

What is a ballpark estimate for how much you should have in order to move to Thailand + be able to survive for 3 months? Including food, rent, utilities, travel(airfare etc).

yo guys

I'm moving next month and my lease doesn't end before May 31, so if someone is interested by a room in this building (the room is not v big but the location is great, it's like a 10 minutes walk to Baiyoke Tower, and a 10 minutes motorbike ride to MBK) for the month of May (u can move before tho, as I'll be out around April 20) for like 6500 Baths all included, then send me a PM as soon as possible.

cheers

that seems like a nice place for 6500baht. but i wouldn't call the location great.

I read on another forum that there is some big rave called EditionBangkok planned for April 24th. Tiesto, Markus Shulz and Ferry Corsten are headlining, any of you guys heard anything about it? I'm considering booking flights but still undecided, is it being promoted much over there?

Edit: here is the website
