Can someone explain to me in english where this place is located?

I have a feeling just northwest of King Taksin Monument, but I can't confirm it anywhere on the internet. Thanks.

Hey Guys

Long time lurker in this and the chatter thread, thought i'd say hi as (if I can get my bankroll up to a level im happy with) im planning on heading to Thailand in June/July.

A couple of questions:

1) How much you reckon you guys need on top of your bankroll? I was thinking 5k US (after return flights, with a flexible return flight so I can get out if **** hits the fan). Im planning on playing 100NL over there, maybe 200 if i've moved up.

2) How much time do you guys actually grind over there? Obviously you want to enjoy it as much as possible, but I know for me personally that will be my sole source of income over there. Im thinking 30 hours a week. Unrealistic?

3) Who is going to be over there at that time? And how hard was it finding fellow 2+2ers to live with? I really dont want to be living by myslef in some foreign country, could always backpack it but not ideal etc.

Cheers guys

1) depends on how long you are staying obv. and how much you will be spending, if you stay inside a lot, and eat standard thai food, 5k should be more then enough (again, depending how long you are staying)

2) I think most of us here, our sole source of income is poker, and well.. some people can grind more then others, for myself I try to clock 30k hands a month, but tbh I have never hit that before lol, but there are guys that can do 70k hands here.. so I guess its how social you are and how much of a grinder you are

3) a lot of us stay here for a long period, as for myself I'm here for at least that period, and you can always post here for a roommate, there are many poker players who are splitting a house/apartment together here, it's just a matter of finding someone you are able to live with

Anyone got any recommendations for an apartment? Arrived few days ago and staying in a hotel for now but planning to stay in bkk for month or two. Price range 15-40k baht per month. Something easily accessible to nightlife/food.

The-fryke,

Assuming you can afford $1k/mo rent (stretch perhaps on your budget, I don't know), I may or may not have rooms for rent in my house at the time. PM me as it gets closer.

Cheers guys.

@Adam I dont imagine that being a problem, I guess we'll see how my Bankroll and poker income etc are going at that stage. As I said I'm going to make sure I have a flexible return ticket, so not TOO concerned about costs, if I blow out I blow out, but pretty confident I'll be able to support myself via poker. I'll def keep in mind.

Hopefully meet some of you guys in a few months.

Now off the chatter thread to read about what i'm missing and make myself jealous

i may be looking for a place in thailand around june/july. i also play low stakes and will be trying to play ~30 hours a week. i was planning on living by myself (i've been to thailand 3 times), but i'm considering "Adam"'s place if he has spots or a 2-bedroom or something similar with a 2+2er. do you want to stay in bangkok? or are you flexible?

Im pretty flexible. Ive been to phuket before and not bangkok, so would like to check it out, but I imagine living in thailand i'll have plenty of time to do so.

All I really care about is living with other people as want to be social/ have people to drink with. Poker players would be ideal as i've found grinding with mates alot easier then grinding alone.

- your passport
- a copy of your passport together with copy from immigration sleeve (which is attached inside your passport)
- 1 photo of yourself
- 1900 bht

for the copy and photo, you can easily do it, just accross the immigration building, so no worries, just money and passport and you'll be fine

since your staying for longtime you should get a student visa and learn thai. 2 birds with one stone. tuition ranges from 20-28k for a year of classes/1 year visa. if you want you can cram the lessons for 2 days a week and after you get it set up you dont have to go out of country to make new visa every 3/6 months and x the extra fees that go with it. for instance the last visa run i did to laos cost 3k transp, 2k visa, 1400 laos visa and 10k baht in fun. add that with the 1900 30 day extension, having to leave after 90 days and come back, and another extension which takes care of 6 months total. its almost the same thing cost wises except edu visas are 1-3 years. setting it up initially takes some work but once its done no worrys.

heres one but i know theres many and any legit one is going to offer the visa along with the classes

I've looked into the student visa and meh. Not worth the trouble even though I take Thai classes currently. I'd be leaving Thailand less than every 3 months anyway.

And you still have to go and renew a student visa every 3 months in BKK and pay the same fee as for a regular visa in another country.

And the non-legit ones will offer a visa even without classes. Only one bird but way smaller stone!
