i have no idea what that ro censored word is, but do you really think that the airport will be seiged for many more days? not trying to be a wise ass, just generally curious. aren't the 2 most likely scenarios 1) the police clear out the airport or 2) they don't, so the military stages a coup? either way, the PAD clear out.

had to reroute my flight out of here to Penang, then KL, but figured i'm close to Indonesia then so why not. So now the BKK action has forced me to travel Samui -> Penang -> KL -> Singapore -> Jakarta -> Bali -> NZ rather than just Samui -> BKK -> NZ. tough life.

Is there another country on earth where protesters would be allowed to shut down a major transportation hub and and destroy the country's tourism industry at the time they need it the most?

You can go between Lax and BKK in about 18 to 20hrs with layover. Going through Taipei, Hong Kong, Singapore, Tokyo or others for between 1000 to 1500 U.S depending on airline and time of year. Happy to help if you give more details.

Willy T (mister bungee jump guy) reccomends the Patong Bungee jump (on soi Bowling not far from police station). Is over a lake and the highest and is run by a Canadian I think.

the one in patong is alright. it's run by a canadian guy who seems to know what he's doing. my only complaint is that the whole environment is man made - it would be a lot cooler if it was in the jungle. there's one in kathu too, but someone died there a few years ago so i wouldn't recommend it.

We took a friend to the Kathu jump on his bd. They record the jump on DVD if you ask them to. Price was about 1,600 for the jump and 1,000 for the DVD i think.

I read that because of the protesters, a lot of things will be a lot cheaper in the upcoming months specifically hotels.

Where can I find these better deals? Sites I have been looking at do not seem to have changed.

Meh, a lot of the interwebz pricings might not be updated.

My best recco (at least for Phuket) is to scout the hotels and then try calling direct to negotiate some cheap deals.

NOTE: This assumes you have mucho patience and at least some understanding of Thaigrish.
