I heard Ritalin (i think it's called Rubifen here) can cause hallucinations and Adderal won't but that sounds kinda fun anyway. don't know much else.

Please tell me if you find anything in Bangkok, I need to go back there in two weeks and it really tilts me that I can't find anything in this stupid island.

nobody on 2+2 lives in samui anymore?

Well, I'm heading the first of October to Thailand, Samui and would like to thank the people giving information here, I've been reading a lot of posts.

About withdrawing money I've decided to resign myself for the moment to make wire transfers to my local bank account at Spain.

But anyway get a bank account in Thailand just in case I can use it with MB.
(It seems once you get outside of the country you could.)

Also try with a Visa Card from Thailand, but I'm afraid this won't work.

And use when you need to go out of the country for the Visa, to go somewhere that you can make transactions, like Singapore or Hong Kong.

-----------

About Internet, I'm thinking about using the WIFI net on the island. It's 1500 bahts a month, and if it works well it can be very handy. I'm not thinking about using a VPN so really don't need that much speed. (I've tried playing at Spain with a dial connection and it worked great.)

-----------

Regarding accommodation I've booked a hotel for the first days at http://www.sawadee.com, and I'll be riding around the island looking for nice house to rent.

-----------

I have also heard Chiang Mai is a nice mountain spot with good ambient, and internet at the north of the country.

Hope, this help someone.

ps. i've never ridden a motorbike before but it's really tempting to rent one because i would spend less than half of what i've been paying everyday for taxis (or saengthaw or w/e they're called?). considering i can barely ride a bicycle what would my odds of dying or being paralyzed be if i go for it?
I live in Samui, I dont know that many cheap places. One that i know of is for 300$ or something like that. Nothing spectacular, one room with bed, AC and TV, and like a small narrow corridor and all you can do there is wash dishes or something. Theres a fridge and pretty good bathroom and internet ofcourse.
Location is in Chaweng just before Q bar.

Plus internet is slow and the girl's selection is very average compared to the rest of thailand.
Oh and no taxi. The plague.

In other news:

-There is a new after hours place opening soon in "a new hotel suk. soi 11" no more infos sorry.

And I found this:

Quote:
KARAFUN AFTER HOUR ON RCA:

It might be a bit difficult to locate Karafun yourself so my best advice is to tell the cab driver you want to go to Caribbean in Yaek Meng Jaai (แยกเหม่งจ๋าย) near Huay Kwang road. Just follow the crowd upon your arrival and you will find it. Outside it’s quite dark but as you walk further through the big glass door you will see loads of people queuing up near the main entrance. Inside it’s a massive, massive hall with plenty of dance floor able to house hundreds of all night ravers.

The music: bloody wicked, current trance and house tunes played by a couple of familiar looking DJs from Baroque but the music here is even more vibrant and incredibly banging. It is so good that you won’t notice how long you have been in there for.

The crowd: as it’s located right next to Caribbean and run by the same management as the famous hostess bar, you will most likely bump into quite a few of these hotties who come here to socialise and enjoy themselves after work. The ravers here are also rather laid back. In fact they seem to have a plethora of fun and you can make friends with them witout too much difficulty. One of my farang mates was well pissed and he ended up going home with a milf! And for no apparent reason, a lot of people in here love wearing very dark sunglasses and can’t seem able to stop dancing so if anyone has a theory to explain this, please let me know!

The price: very, very expensive if I must say. At weekends, it’s 500 baht to get in but you get two beers for it. After that, it’s 300 baht for a small beer. Yeah, that’s £5/$10 a beer and you can’t say it’s cheap even by Western standards! If you want a bottle of whiskey, a black label alone costs 2,000 baht and you can bring 5 people in. If you are lucky and happen to know a girl who works in Caribbean next door, she can probably get you in for free so try your best and make as many friends as you possibly can!

Sorry I haven’t got proper pics for this new place. Have two from the club’s website and while they are not proper ones i.e. they’re taken when the hall is still used as a mere restaurant/karaoke bar, you should still get a rough idea of what it might look like during peak periods i.e. 2am-6am. Just picture the place with nice light works, laser beams, a lot fewer chairs, no couch, more dancing space and lots and lots of ravers.

Two new after hours places in one post, how awesome is that?

Bah they must have Chivas for the same price or a few satangs more.

Most of the time it's better to go for a bottle, you can leave it there with a signature and enter for free the next time.

A good deal courtesy of a colleague : right now they do a promo on bottle at spice if you order before 11pm (1000 bahts for johnny black or so ). Just pop in, buy the bottle take the vouncher and come back at 2am with a few friends for free.

Probably going to check the Karafun place tonight or saturday, just after trying that "Baroque place" i heard many good things about. ( that's the one with a lot of sports cars in front if i'm not confused )

EDIT: I'm not here's the place.

sick imo.

Oh and this :

well of course it wasn't epic, i'm not expecting epic for this price range. he said for decent internet there it's $90/mo. so i am prepared for spending that in addition to the basic rent. i didn't read exactly where it was located but if I can manage to learn how to ride one of those crazy little motorbikes the distance wouldn't be so much of a problem. only thing you mentioned that i couldn't tolerate would be cockroach infestation but i assume you made that up...

ty i will try and check that out today, that actually sounds pretty ideal for me as long as there's no major insect issues.
