what purretrog said is not correct though (afaik). there's no rule that you cannot apply for covid extension on visa exemption. it's possible that some locations will act difficult. but it's not a general rule and should be possible in theory. and if you do it via visa agent, it's imho highly likely that all will be fine.

having said that: covid extension runs out on 27th of november (iirc) and it's not clear if they will extend it again or not.

why not apply for a normal 60 day tourist visa in advance and extend that for another 30 days? or get special tourist visa which gives you 90+90+90 days (but is a lot more annoying to get).

about flying to cambodia: who knows what will be possible in a few months... rules are in flux and might change quickly. if covid numbers rise in one country, it's possible that borders will become less open again. etc

theoretically, they will probably let you into the country again after a few days in cambodia, even just on visa exemption. but it's no guarantee if the immigration officer suspects you're working illegally in Thailand. but at least in the past, the first re-entry was normally no problem.
If the Covid extension is available to me then great, but I will not rely on it.

I should have applied for the 60 day, but wasn't even sure I could get the Thailand Pass, so I tried to minimize my losses in case I was rejected. If I read between the lines on what your are saying, I guess I will just renew for 30 days and get help from a visa agent for my best play when I am there.

From what I read....you can apply for the Thailand Pass again only after spending 21 days in one of the 64 listed countries.

no, that's not correct. if you fly from thailand to a country that is one the 63 country list (like Cambodia), you can return however quickly you want. you can also apply for thailand pass before you fly out.
of course you need to be aware of any restrictions and / or quarantine requirements Cambodia might have.
If you just want to stay longer in Thailand, there will most likely be no need to fly abroad just to extend your stay. between covid extension, education / volunteer visa and retirement visa, you should certainly find an option that suits your needs. .

Weird. I submitted mine on Nov 3 and another on Nov 4 (had to change info) and neither have been processed yet.

I got some off shoppee, seller was Kratom Thailand. When I ordered they only had the green bag, it's really good though. Since then they added white and red as well.

Good to know. The stuff on Lazada mostly had bad reviews/borderline scam.
Thanks!

To what extent is life in Thailand affected by the pandemic at the moment? In what kind of places is it mandatory to wear a mask? Did they close any tourist attractions?

Masks are mandatory at most indoor places like 7/11, shopping malls, etc and most people wear them all the time even outdoors. Nightlife is closed everywhere except Phuket and apparently bars are opening back on January 15th nationwide. Not entirely sure which tourist attractions are open and which ones closed but I'd say most are open.

I'd say that for things to go back entirely to normal we'll have to wait for the first quarter of next year but I'm pretty happy which the current state of things as I don't party almost ever and the activities I do (gym, football, go out dining, go to coffee shops, etc) are allowed and I really doubt they'll close any of that again now that the country is opening.

If you don't like wearing masks it's a drag. I'm fine to pop a mask on when doing shopping or whatever and wear a good mask because I'm in no hurry to catch Covid but JFC, everyone has masks on everywhere all the time. I definitely get looks for not wearing a mask if walking outdoors in the middle of the day. It's pretty ridiculous.

Just wear a nice white tshirt, some designer pants and have a shave, they then associate that with cleanliness and money and won't think you'll make them sick. Their image consciousness will over-ride their conformity to authority.

I'm pretty sure it's a legal requirement to wear one any time you're outside your residence which is why everyone wears one outdoors. I'm not sure if they'd make any effort to enforce it if you were walking down the street maskless now though. It's definitely proper etiquette to wear one though hence why 5 south is getting the dirty looks. I got told to put a mask on by a random on the street mid last year when COVID was eradicated and it wasn't law so I'd imagine now the societal pressure would be much greater even if it wasn't law.

Suppose you live in one of the 63 eligible No Quarantine Countries. You want to go to another approved country by car, train or bus and fly to Bangkok from there. The following rule could be a problem in such case:

Quote:
- Residing in the country of departure for at least 21 days
On the other hand, I found this:

https://www.roedl.com/insights/coron...emption-scheme

Quote:
Travelers can combine stays in approved countries for a total of 21 days.
Can anyone confirm this is true?

Anyone golfing in Phuket?

I’m going to be living in Naiyang area so pretty close to Blue Canyon Country Club.

Wondering if anyone has recommendations or is up for a round.

I wear a mask everywhere and every time I go outside with the exception of when I go jogging. It feels many others feel ok in that route as well although there do seem to be many people still wearing the mask too. I jog mostly in uncrowded areas; parks, around lakes, etc. Just not going to wear a mask while exercising outside unless they make a rule of it.

yes, can confirm, it's no problem as long as you've always been in one of the approved countries for the last 21 days.

really no big deal. you wear it while on the go and then if you sit down, you take it off. 90% do it like that, 10% don't wear one while outside i'd say.
if you're outside of a club or so, of course no one wears anything.
inside hotel / shop, you wear it close to 100%.

Is it worth it to get a Thai driver’s license if you have an international one? I emailed a couple Golf courses and they offer discounted rates if you have a Thai one but not sure if the headache is worth it.

Love this thread btw I used to be GettinWeedMoney (broke+degen English teacher who hung out with some 2p2ers) 10+ years ago but forgot my login

Probably worth it, especially if you're going to be in Phuket.
Must be an agent that can go with you and fill all the BS out for you.

If things work the same everywhere in Thailand getting a driver license takes you two days: one full day for 'class' (watching a video about traffic rules) and the next one to do both the written test and the driving test.

The expression of disappointment on traffic police when they stop you at a check point and you hand them your driver's license makes the whole ordeal totally worth it. If you add on top of that the discount to the golf courses then it's an easy call.
