Now the Delta variant is the most common one found, I believe that came up through the southern border, it's much more contagious and doesn't seem to be controllable.

Like, I can understand that some guys like fat girls. I can understand that some girls that I see as unattractive, others see as exotic. But I do not think many guys want to raise someone else's kid. And most guys want someone younger without so much baggage. If they want to marry someone from their own country, and they are already in their 40s, it makes sense that you would marry someone else that is old, and probably has a lot of baggage. But if someone is going to go to some poor country, where they have more options, I am surprised that so many guys choose women that are unwanted by their own people.
My guess is, after possible divorce, being laid off, kids having moved out etc, not much is keeping them in their home country. They want to feel young again, their money will last longer here, but eventually they get lonely, and want to have something to come home to, when happy hour at the local beer bar is over.

Man what happened to you? Yea Thailand is a super corrupt country so act accordingly, but this is so far off the reality. A ton of hiso thais studied/worked abroad and many super high status celebrities are mixed (especially girls, cuz theyre hot af). My roommate has been on a dating spree on tinder as we speak and the girls are as normal as can be (office worker types that thai guys would date). I'll give you this, with the current political tension and covid there is some chance things could become more chaotic, especially as a guest in the country.

Thai health minister blames ‘dirty’ Western tourists for country’s coronavirus cases

https://www.scmp.com/magazines/post-...stern-tourists

Today, Thailand hit a new COVID death record.

All on their own with barely a western tourist in the country.

Som nam na.

Must be the 'dirty' Thais.

Hi..

Few questions about Thailand
I want to go to Thailand in November for at least 6 months..
I have no experience whatsoever so here's what's on my mind:

1) Could you recommend a city or place (must be good internet connection, not interested in big city life like Bangkok.. more into beaches/nice nature. I also need to grind to not go bust :P
2) What's the situation with apartments? Could you mby recommend a site where to look them
3) Corona situation/VISA stuff.. I understood I get a visa for 3 months and then I need to get out of the country to extend for another 3?

tyvm

If there's a possible grindhouse somewhere hit me up.. I'm 30 YO cash grinder with normal life habbits

With regards to city, if you want beach your best option is Phuket or maybe Koh Samui, both islands but big enough to have all the commodities and infrastructure. Chiang Mai is a good chill city with many things to do too but is in the north so no beach, just mountains.

Plenty of options to rent apartments, condos or houses. What most people do is come here with an Airbnb or hotel for the first week and just drive around the city and ask in different condo buildings. Websites can inflate prices but ddproperty is ok to see what options you have. Also check Facebook marketplace for different cities.

Covid situation is at its worst right now especially in Bangkok and surrounding provinces and it seems to be slowly spreading to the rest of the country and a lockdown a la April 2020 seems imminent. Phuket though launched what they call a 'sandbox' program that allows vaccinated tourist to fly directly into the island and be 'free' to roam around without quarantine although many conditions apply. Google 'Phuket sandbox' in order to find all that you need in order to apply (theres also a similar option for Samui you can check). That is still the best option at the moment to enter the country though cuz the alternative is to stay two weeks in a hotel room in Bangkok upon arrival without even being able to order food outside of the quarantine meals or even walk outside to the balcony and the cheapest hotel is around 800 USD for the whole quarantine.

What you read about having to leave the country every three months in order to get a new tourist Visa was true until covid hit and now with all these restrictions when entering they're giving special visas for 9 months or so, not sure how it works nowadays since I always been inside the country and haven't had to do one of those but probably somewhere around here can help you out with that.

Thanks for a solid response!

I guess I'll wait a bit for the situation to cool down as the pandemic is too wild right now

STV (special tourist visa, that's valid for 3x3 months) is discontinued.

you can arrive on normal tourist visa (or just via visa exempt). then you can either just extend it for another 2 months via covid19-extension or you need to find another way.
covid extension will be discontinued at some point, but no one knows when. currently the deadline is 27th september or so for doing your extension (and then staying until november), but it's likely that they'll move the deadline again (as they have done for the last 15 months).
if they stop the covid extension before you arrive (or can use it), go to a visa agent and look at the situation. as long as you have money, there's normally a way to stay longer (via student visa or volunteer visa or medical visa etc).

anyway: as already said: the situation right now is ****, wait at least a few months to see how it develops.

Pretty much. And really not even that bad yet to what other countries have experienced and we're already running out of beds and oxygen.
Rumors of 24hr lockdowns.

If Delta is 1/2 as bad as the media says, could be a rough couple of months.

Dead bodies in the street in Bangkok left laying there all day.

https://www.benarnews.org/english/ne...021160613.html

Thai authorities just admitted they're a bunch of useless corrupt 3rd world imbeciles and joined COVAX after failing to get their joint venture with Astra-Zeneca off the ground in time to stroke the fragile egos of high level thais that want a thai'ified vaccination success with lots of palms greased.

Anything advanced (BTS, BKK Airport etc.) generally involves covering up foreign origins as not to bring shame on the superior thai master race (somchai in a tin shack built it all!) and of course requires lots of payments to offshore bank accounts as well.

In case ya'll are curious, thaivisa has become ASEANNOW with extreme levels of censorship much like reddit to clean up negativity about Thailand and to advance ASEAN as a governing body of South East Asia which supersedes the interests of individual countries much like the European Union.

Will this work in corrupt semi lawless 3rd world countries where the one with the most money and connections is always right? I doubt it, but it'd probably benefit westerners staying in south east asia long term much like it did for EU citizens with foreign spouses living in other EU countries than their own citizenship. (very easy visa process + someone to complain to if embassies cock block)

How long are you going to wait? 2023? Covid is not going to just go away. The delta variant is very contagious. It will take a long time to vaccinate enough people, and even then it looks like those vaccinated may require booster shots, which will decelerate vaccinating the unvaccinated. Possibly by this time next year, another, more deadly, variant will have evolved.
