Thai health minister blames ‘dirty’ Western tourists for country’s coronavirus cases

Quote:
Many farang dress dirty and don’t shower. As hosts we have to be very careful.”

Thailand’s Public Health Minister Anutin Charnvirakul is at it again making public disparaging and xenophobic comments about ‘white’ foreigners (farang). This time he’s warned his fellow Thais about the foreigners fleeing their own countries for the ‘safe haven’ of Thailand.

“Today I visited Chiang Mai and noticed that there are almost no Chinese tourists. All you see are ‘farang’. Not only that, but 90% of Thais are wearing masks. However, none of the farang are wearing masks This is the reason our country is being infected all around. We should be more careful of the farang than Asians.”

“At the moment it is winter in Europe and farang come to Thailand to hide from the disease. Many farang dress dirty and don’t shower. As hosts we have to be very careful.”

Yeah I'm totally a troll...

Don't be surprised if the thai gestapo rounds you up some day or you have a balcony "accident"...

And now he's the chair for the WHO SEA regional commission or something.
I guess he has a message so SEA countries could get behind!

Fear not my friends.

Quote:
“The time has now come for us to look ahead and set a date for when we can fully open our country and start receiving visitors because re-opening the country is one of the important ways to start reducing the enormous suffering of people who have lost their ability to earn an income,” Prayuth said. “I am, therefore, setting a goal for us to be able to declare Thailand fully open within 120 days from today, and for tourism centers that are ready, to do so even faster.”
Now that every mom and pop business is bankrupt and high level thais have bought up everything, it's time to let filthy farangs back in so the peasants can make ends meet by tolerating covid infested unwashed criminal westerners.

https://www.bloomberg.com/news/artic...agging-economy

Quote:
Thailand’s urgency to reopen stems from its dependence on tourism sector that, pre-pandemic, contributed about one-fifth of the nation’s economic output. Worldwide travel restrictions decimated jobs and businesses in the past year and Thailand’s gross domestic product has contracted for five straight quarters. Policymakers have warned the trend is likely to continue in the absence of billions of dollars earned from foreign tourists.

“We cannot wait for a time when everyone is fully vaccinated with two shots to open the country or for when the world is free of the virus,” the premier said. “We must be ready to live with some risk and just try to keep it at a manageable level, and let people go back to being able to earn a living.”
I generally think tourism accounts for close to a quarter of Thailand's GDP, factoring in indirect income, but I doubt anyone will ever get real numbers as they want to downplay their dependency and their failure to implement Thailand 5.0 where westerners grovel to thais.

The thai fantasy is pretty close to this Indian one:

The game changer for me has been to figure out where the brothels are that taxi drivers frequent or if you're upcountry where the rice farmers get laid. Man, the savings compared to the old beer garden freelancers are yuge.
Bonus for you is that they're used to unshowered customers.

You forgot to commit crimes back home, but fear not my friend, you can still sell drugs to increase your budget, cause we all know that's what evil whitey does if he stays a little too long.

@jspill given that you're probably the longest in SEA (must be getting close to a decade soon?) and the most established, how do you feel about the situation these days? Are things getting dangerously nationalistic in Thailand?

I'm not the troll who tried to convince young grinders to stay back home (can't recall his name) instead of having some fun and adventure for indefinite periods of time but I feel things have seriously turned against westerners in Thailand in a dangerous way.

I haven't been there in a while I married a Myanmar-Chinese girl and our town in Shan state got airstriked by the military so now we've moved to the UK lol, was planning to anyway as our kids are old enough for preschool

Thailand doesn't have the same urban crime as the US / Europe for farang that can afford to live in a nice area with security so while I've been out of the loop a while, it may still be safer to live in than the west, as long as they don't get involved with drugs, bargirls, or run a business that competes with locals

Obviously we aren't looked up to as much as we were 10 years ago but part of that will also just be globalization, modernity and their economy getting rekt. Nothing ever happened to me but then again poker players are introverted, smart and work online. The truth is no doubt somewhere in between your posts and those that say its super safe, lots of expats do get murdered. I didn't get any attitude from Thai guys. I did notice way less interest on dating apps the last 5 years, the days of uni girls coming straight to my place to bang dried up

lol69 was his name maybe he'll come back if bitcoin drops another 98% from here to meet his predictions

Not sure if you're trolling (how did you even have internet there?) but that's a crazy story. I presume you made good crypto gains which cushioned your transition back to blue haired "castrate all men" and chav gang land?

I always thought thai security was just face and kind of a joke for the most part, but my first place (family run condo building which had a middle aged guard guy and no tenants that brought problematic people home) seemed solid enough.

The story a few pages back (unstable psycho woman bribing her way back into the poster's fancy Thonglor condo) is generally what one can expect with larger condos though with ever rotating G4S security guards that won't risk getting targeted by psycho women and rather accept petty bribes than keeping them out.

I honestly feel the average thai hates westerners by now and the only ones that will fawn over you are mentally unstable psycho women.

Thanks. Yeah there was one fibre line that didn't get cut off by the army but all the others did. One restaurant had fibre so I worked there. Could've made more from crypto if I'd just held from $600 but tried to get cute and trade it. Yeah I have seen tons more SJWs around the UK

Which city do you live in?
What percentage of your matches do you estimate are regular girls?

i think march last year i told all of you to get home you should have listened to me. the US is back to normal, thailand lurching from one lockdown to another, no bars open. it would be incredibly boring being there.

Thailand under lockdown, with bars closed, hit by a typhoon in the south, snow storms in the north and with an invasion of killer bees >>>>>> "back to normal" 'Murica

Yep, should have listened to you.
Living through the US winter pre-vax sure sounded like a real hoot!

March 2021 was probably the sweet time to transition as this year's dinner seemed unusually humid. Or was that just me and it was just normal miserable?

Mostly I used in BKK, but the best results in terms of quality girls has been in Burinam. The results are crazy there. And yeah ladyboys and working girls are in there. But majority I would say are normal girls, uni girls etc. I am early 20s myself so that maybe helps with that. I would say 70-75% normal girls.

How does the procedure of extending your visa work? Is there a maximum of how many times you can extend your tourist visa? Or have people lived in Thailand for many years with just the tourist visa?

Relying only on TV to stay in the country can be complicated as you have to go out every three months to a nearby country to get one and if you have many already on your passport you're at risk that they wont give you one at the embassy or send you back when trying to re-enter.

Best way to stay long term is with some kind of long term visa like volunteer or education. There are many agencies around the country that can help you getting one of these. Usually they cost 20k+ THB/y depending on where you do it, which kind of visa, if you want to actually do volunteering/attend classes or not, etc.

10 years ago tons of people were living on tourist visas or had 1 year O visas granted by liberal embassies that don't grant them anymore.

Currently the powers that be in Thailand don't want westerners anymore. You either shell out the big bucks for an elite visa, get a dodgy training visa (self defense in chiang mai etc.) or get a job.

For a xenophobic 3rd world sh*thole that has some overpriced areas with 1st world veneer it's way too complicated and expensive so I wouldn't bother.

In Malaysia for example you can stay 90 days visa free + re-enter another time after a couple days and it's unlikely immigration will bother you while thai immigration facists will go full gestapo on your first entry in a passport with no travel history to Thailand if they don't like your appearance even if you have a visa.
