Dont wanna get into the covid conspiracy rabbit hole but even if its as legit and deadly as media/governments believed back when it all started, cant imagine opening to tourism (and the infection wave that may bring) being worse for the majority of the people than this current state of things in a country so dependant on tourism.
Sheep are led to believe that there are only two options
1. keep it on lockdown. everyone who is financially stable will enjoy life as normal. everyone who lost jobs and revenue will slowly starve.
2. open it up so economy can flourish with downside that some may die. besides deaths, what about overwhelming hospitals? majority of people would be living in fear and will not be able to enjoy going to malls and other venues like they are now in thailand. the economy will tank anyways, and may tank even worse. those affected will also starve.
Given those two options, clearly option 1 is better for the whole.
There is a simple 3rd option: Keep it on lockdown, and provide aid to those affected. Simply tax 10% of the 0.1 percenters net worth, and you have all the funds you will ever need to help those affected, you'll even have left overs to build infrastructure, and even help out those that aren't starving to have better education and better lives for funsies.
