5 South, thanks for the thoughtful response. My wife has dual citizenship Thai and US, I plan to do the
"marriage/family visa". "Monthly income of at least THB 40,000. A letter from the foreigner embassy has to be shown to verify this income" A question I have is
how do I show the income when I won't be having a normal job. Is there a substitute?
I've actually have done a bit of research and planning for the move already. The list of things to do for a move is quite long:
1. Visa - family Visa
2. Renewal of US passports - easy can be done in the US embassy in Bangkok if needed
3. Banking - Charles Schwab US bank as well as a Thai Bank to be used with Pokerstars?
4. Rent - we plan to rent a nice 3 bedroom condo near a mall for ~$1000
5. Car - we want to buy a car for ~$10k. Cars in Thailand seems to be 2x as expensive as cars in the US for some reason. So this is one of the bigger concerns we have right now.
6. Shipping of our belongings - don't know how to do that yet
7. Then a long list of misc. things we need to tie up the loose ends in the US like USPS address change and closing electric and a bunch of other recurring bills.
