Showed your onward flight to the airlines, immigration, or both? I'm surprised you had trouble with just two tourist visas.

I'll be trying for my 6th exemption in a period of about 13 months next week. I'll have all the requirements and I've read extensively that there is no limit on exemptions by air, but I'm definitely nervous. The trip is to and from HCMC.

I originally planned to get a tourist visa in HCMC but I screwed up the dates/times on my roundtrip flight. It looks like you apply for the visa Day 1, then get it in the afternoon on Day 2. My flight out is too early on Day 2, so I'm just gonna try for the exemption again. Wish me luck!

why are they always askign about thai gf? they asked me this question also at immigration and the way she looked at me as i was answering was so weird like it was really important what my answer was.

I answer no fwiw, they gave me some **** about how im so bad come to thailand so many times but don't pay taxes to use the roads and electricity services and let me in.

Yes and yes. Fill out a form online and pay $17 for a one month visa - really easy. Wish Thailand had a similar process.

I just flew in to bkk with no visa and 6 month return flight. I was returning from a 1 year ban and of course they pulled me over and also asked me if I had a thai girlfriend, he called her, bitched her out for me not having a visa, she told him where we live and plan for staying legal for the 6 months then took me back to desk and stamped me in.
I wasn't even nervous cause the bottom line was they got my 20k when I left a year ago and I did my 1 year ban. They had nothing to stop me.
I was surprised they didn't ask to see funds though.
