Just got back from a visa run to myanmar with Lon, as far as visa runs go it was pretty good!

To start off I had a (very semi) near death experience whilst driving from Kata to Patong at 5am. At a junction where I should have turned right towards Lons house my amazing sense of direction decided to send me left for some reason, just as the 4X4 truck behind me lost control and smashed into a shop at high speed then bounced across the middle of the road(where I should have been going) and hit straight into a wall. I knew my stupidity would save me one day!

For the rest of the trip I was smacked off valium, had a hot mexican chick fall asleep on me (who later wasn't allowed a visa and lost her phone. not a good day for her!) and got some wicked war stories from the legend himself Lon. Oh and bought a bag of malteasers in Myanmar. Great success of a day!

I'm leaving in 4 weeks to bangkok, so i figured out it was time to browse the avalaible accomodations..

Hi, the wifi is available in your room yes and its for free, its stable and its pretty fast for hotel internet. Its a decent part of BKK yes, its 15 min away from sathorn/silom and prob 20-30 minutes from sukhumvit road. There are a bunch of big building complexes on this street for the richer people, its pretty convinient although theres a school nearby and they make music allday but i didnt mind that.

I didnt have to pay 2 month deposit as I was only staying one month, first they wanted 1 month but i ended up depositing 20K baht.

As far as credit cards go I have no clue since I havent one and dond really know what it means to put something on your card, you can pay with your cardd you can also just go to one of the propably 10 atms in 5min walking distance and get the money.

Hi ive just read the entire thread over the last three days and wot a read. I was just wondering if you could survie playing 100nl if you braught around £2k.My gf would also be working as an english teacher and from my research she would be earning around 35 000bhat a month.We would also be looking to stay for around 4 months. Also ive been looking at afew places and was wondering where the best place for mte to stay would be i would be cuming over with my gf and would ideally be looking at spending £500 a month between us on rent and food. Would this be suficient to get us somewer with a air con, internet conection and a pool or pool share. Also i know Bkk seems to be more expensive and we would be looking to stay somewere abit cheaper that wasnt really sleazy but still livley enough for us to go out and eat in nice places etc. Would phuket be the best place to stay?

Sounds like Phuket is the place for you my man. You certainly can survive by grinding out 100NL but I don't know what the money withdraw situation is (others can elaborate on this). Depending on what time of year you'd want to come and stay prices vary.

PS: bring RZA, Ghostface and the Meth as well plz.

oh i have one more important question that i forgot. is neteller banned in thiland? if so then would i be able to play on say an ipoker site and with draw my money to neteller and then have somebody back in england like my brother log on to my neteller acount and send it from neteller to my bank acount? so that would hopefully solve the neteller problem.

Does anybody know a good, semi-quiet (maybe a band in the background) place to sit and have a drink with a girl I am taking out.......you know, sort of a get to know each other type place. It would need to be right off the BTS in bkk. I am think sort of like the small outdoor bar with tables at Victory Monument (the one across the street from The Saxophone). I know there are a ton of these type of place, but what are some good ones that are recommended?

i'd recomend the small outdor bar near the entrance of lumphini market (suan lum market might be the correct name?) wich is right of the lumphini MRT station.

It's calm enough, with quiet live band playing during the evening (seen an incredibly good solo folk thai singer once), and you sit on small wooden bench/table set under a big ass tree with some cute lightings.

plus after drinks you can hang out a bit in the touristy market and buy her something cute for extra points..

This is just a newbee advice since i've only been in bkk for a few days last dec/jan..might be better venue somewhere else...

I did the same with my mother until neteller blocked my account because someone logged in using a proxy, since then i use moneybookers wich is great because they take alot less fees then neteller. i def recommend moneybookers.

To your 1st Question, I dont know if you really want to come here with ur gf working as a teacher and u grinding, i dont know how old you are and your backround or your girlfriend but it doesnt sound too great of an idea to me.

However phuket or alot of other places in thailand are nice to be and nice for family life and its cheap yes. Just take a vacation with your girlfriend and get a feel how that would work out for ya.

Also we would be looking to spend around say 30 000 a month on rent +bills. would that get us a decent place?we would want a basic apartment with a shared pool with 1-2 bedrooms or even a studio and air con. But if we could spend say 20 000 then that would be fine. We wudnt be looking for anything special just a clean nice basic place.

many hotels connected to the BTS's with bars/cafes... i have been to that area outside victory monument. its a good place to meet girls. i have not been there in like 3 years though but it was very low rent. now... i don't think that'd be the place to bring a first date.

also would i have to change my ip to play on ipoker?
