Where can I find dextrose/maltodextrin (as a carb source for my post-workout shake after the gym) in Bangkok?

800 baht is possible of you load of data but you can for under 500baht as well if you only need a few gig. Check out dtac or some other website to see how much the sims cost.
300 baht entry for one drink isn't unusual at a bangkok club. maybe he went to somewhere like mixx.

if he did go to somewhere like mixx, then 1000 baht for three drinks is possible.

even somewhere like insomnia in pattaya is about 250 baht for a drink.

Havana Social Sukhumvit 11. When I returned, I saw a printed out sign confirming the 300baht entry, so I don't think it was a scam. It probably matters that I got mixed drinks, too.

Anyone know a gym with free weights near Asok BTS for a reasonable price? Got quoted 6k for 3 months, but that's more than I'd pay in the US. Would be interested in daily, weekly, and monthly rates. Thanks.

Any gym cheaper than that will be complete garbage(like Tony's Gym) or far(like Muscle Factory--also their barbells are either bent or too thin, whippy and ****ty).

Decent gyms are terrible value out here, you're not going to get US prices. Just one of those things.

Surprising and disappointing. I appreciate the responses. There's an excellent powerlifting gym where I'm from in the US for $20/month and I don't think that's unusual. It's interesting that the relative cost is all over the place for different things here.

Any thoughts on motorcycle taxis? I've used them several times now and really, I love the experience. Am I being an idiot though? I know there are tons of traffic deaths here, but is that mostly cyclists not knowing what they're doing? Maybe riding with a pro is relatively safe?

I'm a big fan of Havana Social and I doubt you got ripped off. They charge cover after 9pm on Friday and Saturday nights because they have a live band downstairs. That does get you one free drink as you mentioned. Their drinks can tend to be expensive depending on what you order. They have a lot of premium rums and that costs money. Most drinks are probably in the 240-350 range, however there are some that are much more expensive. There cigars are pretty reasonably priced by Thailand standards and they have a decent assortment of Cubans. Humidor is properly maintained unlike some other bars.

Muscle Factory now has 2 rogue power bars, although I believe people at the gym actually bought them and keep them there. When I first came though I was super disappointed in the bars too. Kills me whenever I see people using the good bars for rack pulls too.

Depends on the street(s) really. Some are long, with low risk traffic and drivers that aren't driving like kamikaze fighters.

Other streets are high risk or drivers drive like they're trying to break world records while you hold onto your dear life.

The savings even for busto people are negligible compared to Taxi / Grab and falling from one will surely leave you rekt.

As regarding pretty much everything in Thailand: You be the judge of the risk.

Ain't no such thing as health and safety evaluations out here.

Bodybuilding is a super niche activity in Asia. Mostly gay guys are into it. Demand is low, therefore gym prices with reasonable equipment are high.

What's not rare is some basic cardio exercise stuff like treadmills for girls to keep fit.

There are places without aircon for $1-2 per time, the ekkamai school gym and the lumpini park gym.

Is there reason to be paranoid about inviting girls over from Badoo/Tinder/whatever? Obviously try and judge their character from pictures and conversation, but I guess what I'm asking is:

Friends and family would say, "You'll get drugged and stolen from." Does this ever happen? How often?

It's almost unheard of, even with prostitutes. I think the horror stories you read on forums are mostly from guys that treat girls really badly so she wants to get revenge, or it was a ladyboy. Then it gets retold like an urban myth.

Anyone ever stay at Base Condo or KTK in Pattaya? Looking for something nice, around $30-40 USD/night, and close to Walking Street/Central.

I'm at the base at the mo, I put a bunch of pics on IG. Airbnb is ~$40/night, it's really nice. Can't really beat it for location, close to walking street and central. There are signs up saying no daily or weekly rental but you just meet the airbnb owner outside to get the keycard and say you're staying a month if asked.

Centric sea condo is nice too and closer to soi 6.

Any idea if you can rent for 1-3 months in either place via the building management office?

I recently rented a place like base for 2 months in Chiang Mai where this was doable and got my one month deposit back without issues.

Never had to meet the owner and everything was handled via the building management.

It's probably worth a shot. I rent a condo and the building manager does everything like you say. Finds the tenant, deals with all the crap so it's probably a fairly common practice just not guaranteed.

Might end up being about the same as booking a month on airbnb, they discount for that. Wouldnt need to give a deposit with airbnb either.

Possibly discount even more if you try to message privately, or book one month then ask in person to extend.
