on ya number 3 is the full moon party on koh pha ngan, happens once a month and is an absolute must see if you like to party. its like a 10,000-20,000 person all night rave on the beach. i guess number 4 would be the awesomely simple pleasure of cruising around the islands on a motorbike and maybe number 5 riding an elephant through the jungle in chiang mai at one of the elephant farms. number 6 having a one night stand and waking up to the girl folding your laundry and doing your dishes

beat: i haven't done 1-5 in a really long time

Need to check up on this for a friend:

It is no problem at all getting a 30 day visa on arrival from a European country to Thailand, right?

He'll be there for 7 weeks (airplane tickets), going out of Thailand before the 30 day period ends and entering again obviously.

I told him it would be no problem at all, but just wanted to make sure, seeing as I had all my visa stuff in order before I went.

How long does it usually take for the consulate to process your visa app? There's no Thai consulate nearby so I'll need to take a trip to get to one, but I will be in a city a week before I leave that does have a consulate.

if there are any tailors on koh tao i can't imagine you can depend on them being good. koh samui has a ton of them on chaweng and this is probably the place you want to go for that. i've never used one but they are carbon copies of the ones all over bangkok. you wont have to look very hard, the second you make eye contact with them the indian touts will be all over you.

this is fine. no problems at all as long as he leaves before 30 days are up. he can then return at any time for a fresh 30 days

def call them and ask and/or visit their website. they are all different and most have weird drop-off and pick-up hours for your passport and visa. i've had them done same day and i've had up to a 3 business day wait period. i'd count on at least having to wait one day unless you get really lucky. hawaii was the place that did it same day for me fwiw

you can quote multiple messages in one reply instead of 3 separate replies back-to-back-to-back.

Travel agents are scums, i used the one at my hotel to get my VIP bus to phuket since going to sai tai to buy the real deal is a big pain.

Well turns out, i got taken to khoa san... had to take a second class buss with 50 other ***** ugly smelly ******ed backpackers. and 1 french couple living in india who got ripped off the same way.. but it gets better for the same price as the vip(Which includes a good meal) we got stopped at a rip off thai stand at midnight.. small rice/chiken plate.. 60baht... OUTDATED pringles, 100baht... so overpriced.

granted there was a 7/11 on the other side of the highway+3mins walk, but i did not see it before the last minute because of the angle we were in.. then 6 more hours(Should be in phuket) we get to middle south... we get to wait 2hours in a lovely tourist/cantine shop. starving, refusing to eat their rip off food this time. i really thought i was getting close to phuket so i was ready to wait. (the morons going to krabi were lucky they kept the bus).. so after the 2 hours we get a nice tuk tuk driverr.. to drive us 1hours through the mud and jungle.. pickup more people when were overloaded.. and we end up in suran thani, the dirtiest ***** city ever. there we wait 30mins to get put into a friggin 50baht public bus, that was overbooked. people had to sit on each other. again no food or water. ... this ******ed bus, first crashed into a car after 5mins.. 45mins wait. then it went through all the small roads to get a couple people. 3hour ride turns into 5:30. goddamnit... i was at least 14hours without food and dehydrated. 20hour bus trip.. so sickening
lmao that is the funniest thing ever.

So its booked, heading to Singapore, Kualua Lumpur and then Thailand at the end of the month. Anyone got any must sees or must eat at restaurants for SG or KL?

and any thoughts on whether it'd be better to head to Phuket and do all the Koh Tao type stuff first, then do Bangkok, then do Chang Mai?

I'm thinking a few days in Bangkok is probably enough (?) ... we aren't rushed for time though, and have no real deadline on when we need to come back, so we'll definitely just book some plane tickets a bit of accommodation and see where we land so to speak.
