Any of you Phuket guys been to Phuket cableski, the waterski/wakeboard park? If so how was your experience? I have fantasies about living in Phuket, playing poker, and going wakeboarding everyday.

for anyone going to phuket. dont ever attend the public hospital for any surgery. they are at least 20 years behind and will try to rip you off plus the nurse and interns are very very against farangs and will do stuff to you that can bve very dangerous for your health

lets just say i have leftovers from my 4 days adventure.. and it was only 1 day at a public hospital and 3 at private

I've had several visits to the hospital (only 1 for myself which was a week stay in a public hospital) and on all those occasions the medical staff have been quite professional and courteous.

I've been there multiple times to use the shooting range which is in the same complex. I'm not Joe watersports so I've never used the cablepull but everytime I've been there it's been in use by groups of farangs who seemed to be enjoying themselves. It looks like a 200meter lake with the cable routed around in an oval. Thee are several jumps avaialable on each side (for you adventurous types). I'm not sure about there pricing, but it's like a 15min drive from Patong thru Khatu and is just a few mins away from the Khatu waterfall.

i had my appendix removed.
I hardly said a word, i wasnt unpleasent.
The intern moving me around was a thai man around 35. He kept looking at me with an angry face. he aimed for every bump. told my gf i looked like a girl and an idiot.

The nurses, they missed my veins which are quite big 4 times for the first bloodtest, then she gave me an infection when she connected the iv so wrongly.
Then on the IV she would just shoot the whole seryng in 3-4secs (she didnt do it with other patients) which can actualy be dangerous, i now have one of my major arm veins completely destroyed at multiple places. 3 long red/black lines on my arms too.

The method they used to remove it isnt really used anymore, anywhere. its the messy method, it takes longer to recuperate, cost a lot more in antibiotics and takes longer to operate too. Also its extremly more painfull afterwards, the other one from the belly button is a walk in the park.

I was also refused any pain killers by the nurse at the public hospital, the private one it took me 2 days to actually get morphine when i told them im close to 0% respondant to most painkillers, especialy the one in pills. codeine is the worst.

I was also charged 10 000baht for xrays which i never had. if i had been the one paying i would cancel my credit card after this fraud

Of course there are always going to be outlying great and bad experiences in even the most super duper western hospital, so there is the chance you got the bad end and I've only seen the good end.

If it makes you feel any better, I once saw a field apendectomy (done my the equivalent of a RN (Navy Corpsman) on a submarine at sea, with no surgical experience and reading the procedure from a book. Better news for that dude was that we had cubic arsetons of injectible morphine for him in the ship's meds locker and we werent afraid to let him have some.

On the meds side, I agree the Thai hospitals are very stringent with their prescribing of painkillers in hospital. Seen multiple instances of major orthapedic treatments (dislocated elbow repaired my surgry, boken leg repaied by surgery) where all that was prescribed postop was paracetemol. LOL. I gues, on the good news front, it's nt too hard to get strong painkillers OTC in pharmacies here.

Maybe we should sneak a weekend in pattaya before the girls come back?

I know **** happens, maybe i just got unlucky. Just warning people with money, its better to take less risks and pay.

I think paracetamol was the exact drug they gave me for the first 2days. that **** wont work.. ive had stronger stuff for when i got my wisdom teeth removed, and i could take as many as i wanted and it would give absolutely no effect.
