A month or so before I arrived in Thailand, I received a PM from Requiem4ever, saying hey lets meet for a beer etc etc. So I say sure I'll message you when I arrive. He sounded like a decent dude, and I couldn't have been any more wrong.

Last Thursday evening, we agree to go out to bar/club or whatever. He calls 30 minutes later and says he wants to go to my place and drink beer. I thought he meant go to a bar around my place(I was in a condo off of suk 13, many places to drink), he had a slight accent, I didn't understand him 100%. He arrives at my place and I walk out to the lobby and didn't see him. So I call him and ask him where he is. He's out in front of the Family Mart, which is about 50 meters to the left.

He had 2 bottles of Chang with him, I'm like WTF? This guy just invited himself to my place. He didn't look physically imposing or sinister, so I'm like ok whatever and invite the dude in (says his name is Alex/Alexis). So we shoot the breeze for a little bit, he was quiet, but seemed like a nice enough guy. So we finish the beers and go to Boss club. That place sucked but we end up shooting pool, finishing his bottle of Scotch, and taking 2 girls from there to the next place.....Bossy. (fwiw, i never been to these 2 places before)

We get there, and he has a friend there, and he comes up with 3 beers and hands me one. I take a few drinks and as it turns out, they put something in my drink that made me lose consciousness.

(Some of the following events might be out of order, I don't remember a lot of details)
I awake the next morning/afternoon at the girl's condo (i don't even remember being there)and find that my wallet and key are gone. The 2 girls take me to the police station to file a police report. We go to my condo and this dirtbag cleaned house. My laptop, monitor, a lot of nice clothes, credit cards, camera, ipod, luggage, and cologne were gone- ALL GONE. Miraculously, they didn't find 2 ATM cards that I removed from my wallet before I went out to meet Reqium.

For a moment, I thought the girls were in on it, but they explained everything to me, which most of it i don't really remember at this point, nor does it really matter, and came to a pretty fast conclusion that they were indeed not in on it, requim simply told him he was a friend and they took it hook, line, and sinker. By the time they caught on, it was too late. Actually, I'm pretty sure it was his friend who robbed the joint, Requiem was also at the girl's condo, but apparently would go back and forth to the condo and net cafe below. Most likely, he was communicating to his friend where my condo and what my room number was, and making sure I was out like a light. I was out alright, the Thai girl was almost scared I was dead and would periodically check my pulse and was thinking of calling a doctor.

A week before this happened, I was out with an American/Lao friend who happened to be in town. In the back of the cab, he was telling me to watch my back, there's a lot of desperate people with nothing to lose who will not think twice of taking what you have- he was referring to the Thai locals. Never did it cross my mind that it would be a foreigner to be so desperate and insidious to do something like this.

In retrospect, I think of what I could have done to avoid this, its easy to say I could have done this or that differently- hindsight is 20/20 as they say. I'll just chalk it up to experience and am fortunate that I'm still alive and in relatively good spirits, considering the circumstances.

I think its a longshot he'll ever be caught or that I'll ever run into him, but if I do, I won't show him much mercy. I'll leave him the same way he left me-, but instead of a drug, I'll use my two bare fists..

but beside that night, I had a great time!!
I also got a pm from this guy. Talked to him on msn for a bit but never actually met up with him. His msn his HP_Alexis@hotmail.com and he calls himself Alexis.

I got random pm's from guy's at 2+2 as well, wanting to 'meet up' in Bangkok. Your obvious reply should be die in a grease fire. Or get away from me you socially inapt lunatic.

You can use the forum to meet up, but when unknown guys start sending you pm's in broken English about meeting up in a 3rd world country, you don't get suspicious?

alot of people are french/scandi/watever and while i think these guys might tend to stay with themselves (people that speak the same language) there might be some who want to meet the 2+2 community for honest reasons. dont let broken english alone decide if someone is good or bad.

When someone friendly hands a drink how can you really refuse it? Especially someone coming from 2+2. Yes, there are some scumbags out there, but being their victim like this is just bad luck imo. KaizenK didn't do anything stupid. Any sleazy girl you go out with can do this to you (the risks are probably a lot higher compared to farangs). You are only safe when you stay with your group of friends.

I've read in the BA thread that citi is the best American bank to have in BA. Are there better/worse American banks to have in Thailand or does it not matter?

In my experience, Thailand is full of creepy foreigners who live paycheck to paycheck on their crappy teacher salaries. I wouldn't trust them one bit and recommend that people stay as far away as they can, or at least be very careful.

I would not worry about Thai locals outside of touristy areas. Generally speaking, Thailand is super safe - safer than my neighborhood in DC for sure.

If you want to meet foreigners in Thailand, talk to folks that are there for real work - the people who are send by their companies and have normal lives back home. Retirees are also more normal, if grumpy and disillusioned. I also tried - but failed because of limited time in BKK- to meet any 2+2-ers. I would think this is probably the best group of foreigners to meet. My guess is that this is a fairly typical group of poker guys... Next time I will definitely make more effort to meet people from here and Vietnam (WhoIam)... But do your research first and see if these folks actually play poker and post on 2+2...

I don't know how you measure who is best, but for a foreign account, I would think HSBC would be quite good also. They have a huge presence in Thailand. Regardless, if you try to use the ATM with any of these banks, get ready to pay 150 baht (almost $5) per transaction.

The yellow bank doesn't charge 150 baht fee.

I met one guy (not 2p2) in a bar once and when he came back he was very insistent on meeting me again and after we met once he wanted to meet again for dinner the next day. My girlfriend didn't like him one bit though and got a really creepy vibe from him, and after doing some research on stuff he told me I decided to just break of contact with him. Reading all this makes me feel good about my decision.

So for you guys who live in Thailand longer term, how do you guys handle money/banking in Thailand? Can you pay your rent and most other expenses with a Visa and keep the expensive withdrawals from ATMs to a minimum? My plan was to just keep my American bank, which I can link to my Stars/FT accounts through echecks or wires. Is this a reasonable plan?

I think they open a Thai bank account and wire some money from their foreign account. This is one way to avoid 150 baht ATM fee.

Just got a question regarding travel insurance, does anyone have any reccomendations I mean they seem to all have the basic medical and baggage/flight cover but i dont seem to know that much on say if your laptop etc gets stolen or w/e. Is there any good companies that can cover this no problem? I will be away for around 3 months maybe longer...

Thanks guys

Unfortunately the ******ed assaulting scammer is a reminder that all people are not righteous.

Back in the day, in Phuket, It used to be that I would be trusted to meet all newbs who came here 1st. (Me being an old arsed, hard nosed, cynical mofo people reader). That worked fine until the masses started flowing here. Now it's hard for just one person to do all the filtering.

Also, I don't necesarily want to stop being helpful to newbs just because of a few Dbags.

But the idea in itself is probably correct. Have a select few who are trusted in each area as good readers of peoples (for Phuket It's prob myself and Rutang) do all initial meets.

I'd suggest Team BKK and Team CM perhaps come up with an initial meet committee as well.

Also, all the defensive measures aside, if any injured parties should wish to seek justice for their situations, contact me via PM. I hold a special distaste for these types.

SRSLY, Siarouma, GTFO!

Don't bring your peado **** here.

This is banworthy imo.

Having this type of garbage in this thread can lead to a 2p2 ban from Thai ISPs.

SRSLY GTFO of this thread and Thailand you scumbag lowlife.

I am from Germany and i have buy a ticket for Thailand. But i am wondering, everybody in this thread are saying it's only possible to find bad girl or hooker girl in Thailand. I don't realy like to have sex with any prostitute. It's not my style. But still it's hard for me to find women in Germany, so i have buy a ticket to go to Thailand but i am wondering if it's easy to get a girl that is NOT a hookers. I will obviously feel not confortable about ****ing a prostitute.

And let's say i am able to get some girl in Germany, what's will be my edge in Thailand. My first purpose to go here is to find a GirlFriend but a want a good girl that do no want my money.

I play NL5k and i have a lot of money but i never buy for prostitute and i am an average guy but not good with girl. I don't have so much technic to get a girl but still. I want to go there to get a nice girl and maybe get her back to Germany.

I already thinking about some stuff, tell me what you think about that.

First of all. I will NOT tell her that i have many money, i will do like if i was a poor guy. Like that they will not like me for my money but for me.

I will NEVER go to any place with prostitute, like that i will not find one that just one me for other thing then love.

I will try to get some Thai friend (But i don't speak thai) But maybe i can buy them some beer and some t-shirt like that they will be my friend (But only if they speak some english)

I have a book about how to speak thai, Basic thai, will try to read it all i heard it's was better to get thai good girl to speak thai.

So what you think about that?

And tell me how is it possible to get real thai here.

Thanks you very much for your help
