also if you should fear cultural assimilation you should be more concern with chinese/japanese because they are alot less extreme when it comes to their culture and personally i think asian culture has higher penetration in western society than arabic.

as muslim families westernize and raise their children in proper civilization, those children will eventually be just as disenfranchised with organized religion as our generations have become.

Lets just turn Thailand into a distinctly western place then.

Unfortunately best chance for this is/was in US/NorthAmerica.

From my experience in the UK a hudge portion of the Muslim immigrant communities keep themselves isolated and actively prevent assimilation. This results in European countries tending to have communities of immigrant Muslims who consider themselves Muslims/whateva country of origin who happen to live in "X" country vice Danish, Brit, French,Germanz, et. who happened to be Muslim.

Oh well. Nuff politics. ALLLAH AKBAR!

Hey all, I'm in Thailand for the rest of 2010 and trying to figure out the best way to deposit/withdraw money for online poker (Pokerstars). I have a bank acct in the USA but I'd rather go through a Thai bank acct (i.e.- Kasikorn) if at all possible. According to the Pokerstars website, the following methods are available for BOTH paying and cashing out: Click2Pay, ClickandBuy, Entropay, and WebMoney. It also lists Visa but NOT Mastercard...which I don't understand.

Can those of you who have experience with one or more of the above methods make a recommendation? Or is there an easier way of going about it? Any advice from the experienced hands in Thailand would be appreciated.

alot of immigrants "stick to themselves and resist assimilation" if you look in the history of countries like australia/USA

its only a matter of time, even if the parents work hard to insulate their kids. children will still go to schools, watch tv and interact with other children and they will absorb the values/culture.

Except that muslims have their own schools, don't watch TV and don't let their children interact with non-muslim children.

People in the US wouldn't be familiar with the muslim ghettos in European countries. They do not assimilate at all, and if it wasn't for the view of the Eiffel Tower in the distance you would think you are in North Africa.

Hey hello i have some question. I have to do a visa run in 2 weeks. And i have to do a visa for a double entry (If i understand correctly, i only have to pass the border to any other country, and come back, don't have to go to any ambassy or whatever, right?)

And i am wondering what is the fastess place to do a visa run and the easiest by train.

I have heard cambodia are not so good because we need to do a visa run enter cambodia. And i have already been to Laos, so what are my option

YES. Either arrange a local VPN (one from your neteller acct country) or make arrangements with family/friend to log into neteller for you from home.

All run fine except betfair which you can run using a VPN.

I'd like to help but I don't understand what you have for a visa now or what you are looking for. Please specificlly state what your current visa is, where you got it and what you desire. Then myself or Lessu (or others) can assist.
