Yeah, my normal doctor in the UK. I gotta go back for some more vaccinations so I will ask more about where exactly I need to take them then.

Doxycycline is also used to cure some STD-s so you'll get two in one. I wouldn't worry about malaria tho.

while we are on health topic:

I tried to look online but got confused- what vaccinations should I get before going back to Thailand(from the US).

I didn't get anything before travelling here, but I've been vaccinated for Hepatitis B and for something else as a kid. Haven't really heard from my friends who have stayed here for years that any vaccination is strongly recommended so far.

Im from UK dunno how that will differ from US. I've had to get Hepatitis A & B, typhoid, and tetanus. Im also going vietnam and cambodia tho so I'm not sure if they would have all been necessary for just Thailand.

I'm from the US, living in BKK now, and have been using my Wells Fargo account from the US. I'm trying to transfer funds to Party Poker and so far have not been able to. I tried every option they have on the site with no luck. Because of the incredibly stupid gambling rules in the US, the banks won't transfer to gambling sites. The problem with the other options seems to be that they won't transfer to gambling sites FROM THAILAND.

Anyone out there that may be able to help out?

dont bother with the malaria tablets. unless you are going hiking in the jungle then you could take them with you and if you ever feel symptons that may be malaria you start eating them tablets and you should be fine like 90%+ of the time. you propably need to actually bring them with you though since if you start to get sick TIME is of the essence. there isnt enough time to get to civ. to buy the meds

I think my doctor also asked if I got some boosters in the army so there might be some other vaccinations you need to make sure you have too

thats what they told me at the tropic institute: take them with me, when i get fever i should go to a doctor to check if it is malaria, if theres no doctor around i should take them whenever i get fever.

While on this topic how bad is the Japanese Encephalitis vaccine side-effects wise? I've heard it can be pretty bad reply if you've had it. It seems to be another one you don't need unless in rural areas, but on the other hand it's very lethal so I still want to take it.

I got the Japanese Encephalitis vaccine few months ago and didn't had any sideeffekts, but that obv will differ from person to person.

No-one should come here before getting their Hep A and B shots though. It's widespread, highly contagious, incurable and definitely not something you want to get.

its used quite widely here according to my wife, she is a nurse. probably easy to get.

side effects are probably not bad most of the time. but if your immune system is bad, the side effects probably gets worse.
