I was talking about not using an agent at all. in my opinion (shared with many) the best way to look for a house is to drive around the island and look for for-rent signs. at the same time you will get to know the island and you will know which part of it you want to stay

It's easy to find a place to rent in a couple of hours. Point is you will be "in country" deciding for yourself what and where is best instead of taking the word of someone you don't know.

I think Thomas T lives in pattaya so his perception of women is obviously going to be a little scewed far as them all being working girls as in pattaya the majority of them are...at least if your in falangy areas while in Bkk there are more reg women than working ones.

One thing i havent yet fully understood and not saying this applys to you is that it seems like people on thaivisa or expats that post there carry a negative stigma about stuff regarding thailand to some extent. and come off as almost crabby like when they get into deep reality discussions far as thailand.

I have been here more than a year and my outlook on it all remains positive and its not that people in this forum dont care about the intricate details of the percentage of pro vs non pro or some deep reality issues...its that most of us left some place which pretty much sucked and showed up in thailand and are loving life. For me when i see some depressing **** that someone wrote i really cant be bothered to read it and kinda laugh at that person as how can you be in the land of smiles and be angry about a part of the thai society that was there before you came and will be long after your gone.

just enjoy the fact there are super hot women and cheap everything and do what makes you happy.

Take her to Basil in Sheraton Grande man, fits the bill perfectly, upscale without being posh. Reputedly the best non-street-cart Thai food in Bangkok, I'm new so I don't know but it was definitely the best Thai I've had and one of the top 10 meals I've ever eaten period.

Just stick to the "Recommended" items and make sure you order the fried tiger prawns and the steamed snow fish especially. I went there with 6 people ordered like 9 dishes and every one was superb.

probably only staying a few months so just a pay-and-go one is fine, no contract.

To activate the 2nd entry you just need to leave the country and then come back. if you dont want to spend any time abroad just come back the same day.

You should check the "enter before" date on your visa though. you have to use the 2nd entry one day before this date or your visa will be expired.

I do my border runs with airasia to kuala lumpur usually. they fly there from phuket and bangkok several times a day so doing the whole thing in under 12 hrs is easy.

everyone uses prepaid sim cards. you can buy them everywhere (7-11's, family marts etc..) you don't need passport. you can also buy credit to the sim card from the same places.

i don't know what netword is best. I've been using 1-2-call for both calling and for internet and it's good enough for me. there are couple of more major networks but i couldn't tell if changing to one of those would make a difference
