I guess I own you to answer this questions since I have teased you about the falang dancing thing.

Answer: The discussion started about the question wether the girls are horny and wants to have sex with you first night they meet you because of your awsome look, personality or falang dance. (sorry could not help myselfe) Or if they go with you because they want something in return.

I say that they dont have sex with you first night they meet you without hoping to get money or a relationship. Almost all working girls goal is to get a supporter for her and her family. Many girls say that they are not prostitute, but all guys I know give them money anyway. Standard.

I see. If we don't give them money, we are pricks. If we do, we are picking up working girls. Right?

Answer: That is absolutely correct.

I'm sad to see this too. But clearly you are jaded and maybe have had some bad experiences of your own. Not everyone is you though. Thanks for the words of caution.
Yes, I have a very good knowledge about how bad thai people are being treated by falangs. I have seen it with my own eyes, I have heard it from thai people, and I have heard it from friends that has lived here for a very long time.

By the way, sorry for me going at you a little bit too much abot the dancing thing, I just found it funny because it is so typical what we use to joke about between friends.

I felt I was obliged to answer just this questions. I am done now. Have a nice visit in Thaland Raze!

ITT people who have been in Thailand less than a year tell long-term residents how it is.

This is gonna stir the pot, but I would seriously like for you guys to define what qualifies someone as a "dirty expat". There's a whole lot of venom and vitriole on here towards "them" - I'm struggling to understand what qualities you're all referring to.
They mean anyone over 30, because people that old should be banned from Thailand according to the kids in these threads. They can't even stand to have anyone over 30 posting in these threads as is obvious in the way numerous older posters (pumpui, myself, thomas, etc). have been treated by the usual suspects who think they were the first people to discover Thailand, and know everything about it despite completely avoiding contact with the much more knowledgable expats that they detest.

The fact is I have been living in Thailand as a professional poker player since most of the people in this thread were in junior high. In fact I have been doing it since the only poker site on the internet was Paradise Poker. If they don't want to listen to anything I or other posters have to say, then they don't have to. But I'm still going to reply to threads from people interested in travelling to Thailand because that's why I'm here - to help newbies - not to look cool to a bunch of "ballas".

basically its defacto untaxed if that makes sense.

also iirc a 2+2er actually took the concept to court and the court ruled in his favor, not imposing tax on him as long as he played cash games only
Actually I know very well how it works, and have read the posts by Josem's friend. Thanks for helping me out though.

The actual check is that you have to be operating a business relating to gambling. I.E. The law is targetted at bookies. Playing poker is not a business therefore not taxable at this point.

That doesn't mean it won't change in the future, because if there's one thing big government hates, it's people who don't pay tax.

last year when i was in phuket i see they had some snus from india i think (in small bags) that was decent, but havent seen it anywhere else in thailand
oh im an oldtimer too (33) but not cranky!

Um...WAT?

Are you really citing pumpui as a source worthy of anything but contempt?

He is like a 22yr old French Canadian loudmouthed, bigoted no class pile of shtt.

If you are staying 6 months I suggest not booking through a website. Come here instead and stay in a hotel for a few days while looking for a place. you want to know the areas first so you would know where you would want to live. also you would obviously need to see the place irl before you sign anything. and the prices will be higher through a website like this.
