To Thailand people,

I am coming to BKK for one week from 10th Jan - 17th Jan. Is there somewhere, hotel/serviced apartment, i can stay at that has very good internet. Somewhere perhaps where one of you are staying already that play online a fair bit and don't have any troubles with internet connection. Also like to be as close as possible to where the good nightlife is, price doesn't really matter, thanks

James

for internet somerset park suan phlu has 50mbit fiber, ive stayed here for afew months, not close to nightlife though, but traffic is smooth at night anyways, wouldnt worry about living superclose to the clubs.
if you wanna go shopping etc during the day your prolly better off with a hotel near siam/national stadium(or close to a bts). as traffic during the day can get bad

No, but it's a common misconception. You need to have funds to show that you can buy one though (usually around $1000 on top of the $5000 or so you are supposed to have to gain entry on any visa). A bank statement or any major credit card can usually satisfy that requirement.

Most airlines only offer 3 month validity return tickets at the base, so countries don't ask to provide one for visas that last a year (like a working holiday visa).

Use the yellow ATM's (Bank of Ayudayh), they don't charge a fee on visa cards.

I booked with Eva Air, £356 one way. Try checking on www.kayak.co.uk its a site that checks most of the airlines for you.

I don't think that will be enough money. Better off coming for one month and you'll be able to have more fun. This plan doesn't sound very good though. Def buy a roundtrip ticket so you don't have to worry about grinding enough to get home.

$800 might be enough for accommodation and wifi for 2 months and if you want to live on water and boiled rice, but otherwise that's not nearly enough money to live for 2 months in Bangkok.

Even if you never left the house you would not have enough money for food, and honestly what is the point of going to a foreign country if you don't have any spending money at all?

I'm one of the cheapest dudes on these forums and even I budget 2k per month when I live in Samui, which is far cheaper than Bangkok.

You could spend 100 baht/day on street food and eat decently. You could probably even lower it to 50/day if you cooked for yourself. You would be miserable though.

Which would leave him only $300 per month for accommodation, or about 12,000 baht. It's certainly doable but having such a low budget is not going leave anything for entertainment or anything really except food and accommodation. Which kind of defeats the purpose of going on holiday - if all you ever do is sit in your hotel room and play poker you might as well stay home.

I guess the only advantage is you could be grinding in a place where it's warm and sunny. You would barely be able to afford 7/11 beer on that budget.

Ya and with 800$ you have to buy a double way ticket. With only a one way too much thing can happens, realy don't think it's a good idea

Always funny how people heard from the neighbour of their mother's aunt that Thailand is supposed to be cheap and then have these extremely unrealistic budget ideas.

[x] not enough moneys

I hope your talking euros? its like 20k baht a month. you could go somewhere else like pattaya instead of Bkk, rent a cheap ass room for like 4k and eat street food/try your luck with the girls that work at the malls n stuff as its cheap out there maybe 1/2 of bkk costs typically. but even than your kinda hurting and there will be no wifi in your loom/hut minus the roof. you could use the internet cafes....your better off learning thai dominos and trying to grind your ticket back that way. at least your rolled for it.

OR you could go to issan and stay in a village and get the fruit before it falls from the tree. prob your best option

w/ this g-club thing again. say its a 10k baht membership, with a few bottles or so. u can go with 2 or 3 other people and split the membership right? or does each person need to have to their own unique membership card?
Ask us about Thailand! Quote
12-20-2009 , 04:37 AM
no you can split the membership, only 1 person needs to be member to get the membership reduction on the drinks/girls/rooms

Internet in Samui is no different to anywhere else in Thailand - it depends on your plan and whether you are using wireless or a lan.

Look for a place that has a plan with TTT (maxnet) because its far superior to TOT which is more common.

http://news.samuiexpress.net/clients/aumpai/aumpai.html is where I recommend for a nice place at a reasonable price with a solid internet connection.
