this is certainly good news. Seems like the motto in Thailand is "money talks, bull**** walks"

Does anyone know of a pharmacist in Bangkok who's willing to sell something stronger?

Any 2+2ers who want to get together for beer, food, poker, whatever, send me a PM.
there are still some drugs which you can get over the counter which will **** you up, i'll ask my friend what some of them are, i've not tried any yet...also if you get the chemical breakdown for something and take it to a some back street pharmacists they will cook it up for you. This prob wont happen in Bangkok tho need to be away from authority's.

For example, bars in Brisbane are currently obliged to close at 5am. There is no set closing time in NSW and some bars are open 24 hours, though local authorities force bars to close at midnight in many suburban areas. Early shop closing times are still imposed in Queensland, South Australia, and Western Australia. The other states have deregulated.
Let's not be too nitty about this.

PokerSpiv isn't 100% correct on everything in his post, but the sentiment is very true.

I am trying to find something close to the party at haad rin ideally, but doesnt have to be right next to it. Should I try book something online now or just when i get there?, the earliest I will be there is 30th Nov and Ive heard alot of places book out quite early.

Budget up to 1500 baht a night but cheaper is better preferably not a backpackers.

As far as I know you can get ephedra (the actual plant) from Chinese herbalists shops. Not from chemists though (you can buy it over the counter in some places in SEA though, like Bali).

100cc, with manual gear changer (foot pedal) is pretty low end, especially for Phuket with lot of hills.

100cc would mean it's struggling to go anywhere fast and super struggling to carry a farang up and thru hills.

A used one of those can be rented for 2K/mo in Phuket town and prob bought for 10K or so. But........not many here would want one. A 125cc maybe I could do, but a 100cc would barely move my body around.

Don't need a superbike to get from point a to point b. The speed limit in built up areas is 60km/h. Driving faster than that is a good way to get booked or dead.

I can get up hills just fine, it's super easy once you work out how the "manual gear changer" works, in fact it's easier than it would be on an automatic bike which would keep shifting when confronted with a steep hill. And I weigh over 100kgs.

I'm sure like most young farangs though you would need a more powerful bike to prove your manhood. That's fine I guess. But it's ridiculous to say 100cc is insufficient to carry you anywhere, when the majority of scooters sold in western countries are 50cc.

LOL nice projection!

Sounds like you might have a little inadequacy issue there.

Also LOL @ 60km/hr being a way to get anywhere in any amount of time.

Alos, I wonder about the state of the "hills" in Samui if 100cc is doing the job there.

There's a pretty big hill between Chaweng and Lamai. Not quite as big as the big windy one between Karon and Patong, but I see people in 100cc bikes riding up there all the time too.

the hill between karon and patong is pretty small compared to other hills here

I know most people plan on long stays with friends here in Poker houses.. but I thought I'd put this out there..

Does anyone have a room available in Phuket? I'm staying longer than I expected..2 more months..and would be appreciated if anyone has a room to lease for a short time. I know it's nearing the high season..and would like to live with some like-minded people..instead of renting a 1 bedroom apt..I have a regular girlfriend..and not bringing new bangla girls in nightly. Respectful to my surroundings, etc.. ASAP if possible

35/m,USA (TX) been around the Island for 6 weeks..and traveling Asia for the last 3 months..
text or call 0876266623

thanks
Shawn

cdma works everywhere other than bkk, i've gotten download speeds up to 250kb/s

quality of service depends on how far you are from one of their towers

costs 845baht/month

all the models they are selling now should work with np

atm the model they are selling costs 6.5k and you get 3 months free of use. after that you get a bill monthly.

i've been grinding on ftp, stars and party with mine and had no problems

ok, thanks for the info, guess i gotta start looking for hotels and apartments close to the towers then just to be sure

HEY PEOPLES (Lessu I'm looking at you especially!)

I have a few friends traveling by land to Thailand. They want to stay 18 days. Can they simply go to the Thai consulate to extend their visas??? Is that okay?

They will get 15 day stamp at border of land crossing.

They can goto any Thai Immigartion office and get a 7 day extension for 1500THB.

Just need to bring passport pix, copy of front page of passport, copy of current visa stamp.

Hope its not from Phnom Penh. That and the trip from Vientiane to Hanoi are supposed to be the worst bus rides in SEA. Tell them to fly imo
