SMPro,

For 2k USD a month you can live very well in Thailand, serviced apartment, scooter rent, eat out every day, party 2-3 times a week including barfining ho's. Cut down on the drinking and debauchery (i.e. ho's) and you can go way down from that.

Re: nice restaurants

I had an awesome meal at the Boathouse on Kata beach. It's right on the beach so the view is very nice. It's Thai/French fusion and I had their Thai set menu which was 4 excellent courses for 1500 baht (I know, expensive). You can get a different glass of wine with each course for an additional 1500 baht which had some very good wines as well and even included a complementary champagne before dinner (some sort of promotion this month).

Re: Jetskis

I don't get the jetskis. In Pattaya I rented a motorboat and a driver for the day for 2k baht. In Phuket I got an awesome day long trip to Phi Phi with snorkling, sightseeing, and lunch for the same price.

How in the **** can renting a jetski for 30 minutes cost 1500 baht???

Drink lots of water and have a night free from alcohol and your immune system will kick back in.

It won't run its course if you keep hammering your body every night.

And stop eating street food.

anyone else not get hangovers in thailand? when i was in uk i would usually always drink 4% beer and after heavy drinking would always need to take pain killers the next day. Since being in thialand i have been drinking stronger beer and mixing drinks with buckets etc. I bought a load of painkillers with to anticipate the headaches but i haven't needed to touch them once. Surely i should be getting more dehydrated in the heat, i think they must put painkillers in the beer....

Nah they are just as bad for me! I think you are still in holiday mode, hangovers are never as bad then. Once you've been here a while everything will go back to normal. Keep hold of those painkillers imo

Is it true that foreigners are not allowed to buy real estatate in thailand?

you can only own 49% so what you need to do is register a business then get "two or more business partners" so you own the majority %. Apparently this is quite easy to set up, I was talking to someone the other night who built a house here and he said hes has never even spoke to his "partners".

As I understand it, you can buy the property but not the land it lies on. You have to lease it long term.

Bought some once in phuket from my girlfriend's gay friend, it was 1.2K/pill and total crap, felt hardly any effect.
Got also some in bangkok from some kind of whore a friend knew here, 500/pill, super strong effect like kick in the ass for one hour, but it disappeared quickly, and made me throw up all my beer.
So no more "E" or whatever is inside those pills in thailand for me.

Best ones i got in asia were from Kuala Lumpur from a chinese friend. Very good party in thailand afterwards, but it was a bit stupid to smuggle them there from the malay border.

Max lease of land, according to current Thai law is 30 years.

I found some pretty sick 1-2rais land up around phuket's airport for 800k-2mil... pretty sick deal if i played 5/10 id def finance myself a 4mil mansion on that land(equivalent to a 15-20mil house if you know someone who can do everything from a to z without hiring more than some burmese guys)
1MTHB/rai sounds pretty expensive for that far North on the island.

I'd expect that 5M would be the lower end of the range to build a really super mega sick house on this island.

If you really wanted solid western construction contracting on your house (IOW you want to last >25yrs in terms of structural stability) you have to get a Foreign Contractor/Civil Engineer as your project manager and they are NOT cheap.

Thaiarrhea...is a sign maybe your not eating right, or you've killed the healthy microrganisms/bacteria of digestion from too much drinking... and the stomach is linked directly to the brain.. bad stomach=bad decisions! something to think about..

watch where you drink water from.. water borne illnesses are no joke.. teeth brushing, etc..

It's all a big poker hand in Thailand..bad decisions can cost one

My friend last year got an intestinal parasite..and it took him the better part of a month or 2 to figure what it was, and then rid it from his system.. watch the sanitation.. stop drinking and let your stomach heal..

Fact: it takes minimum of 60 days for a healthy person to get full digestive ability back after drinking alcohol.. it's a posion that kills the stomachs goodness..

sugar drinks f*ck you up too.. I'm in Malaysia getting some good healthy foods back in the system (easier to access here than in Phuket)
