I haven't committed to Phuket or BKK yet but I like the idea of having a nightlife scene but also some peace & quiet, and beaches.

would you put a % to how much we could expect the homes to be overpriced on the websites? The fact that these listed prices are "overpriced" is excellent, I thought of them as cheap. Sick.
Yeah I'm kind of on the same stage.. this apartment **** is stressing me out . Maybe I need to chill. With enough money I've heard everything will work out np.

As for places to live in, is there any area besides Bangkok, Phuket, Chiang Mai, Samui and Pattaya worth considering?

I don't speak thai, and yes I've heard most non-working girls are tougher to score since they aren't as much into foreigners in general, but it's no fun without any challenge right?!

I'm not sure if I get your point completely btw

I have never met anybody who have had problems with scoring with thai girls that dont work in bars etc.

I am talking about young, clean guys with some money, and I assume you fall into that category.

today we went to look at a 3 bedroom thai style house in kathu, near the university. it had all the furniture that you needed and the previous guy who lived there had tt&t adsl already. she wanted 20k first and when we were leaving she said 18. I am pretty sure we would have gotten it down to like 16 pretty easily. so it would have to be a pretty baller house to be worth 40k in kathu

I'm planning a trip to Thailand January 24th-Feb 10t 2010. I will be coming from the south side of Chicago. I plan on bringing about $3,000 to spend aside from hotel money so I expect to live pretty well. I will arrive in Bangkok and will make my way to full moon party Jan 30th and on to Phi Phi islands. I plan on banging hot chicks(non hookers), clubbing, swimming with shark, nice hotels, sight seeing, and making a small documentary in the process. There is a story about that which I'll get into later.

Anyway, I'm going by myself and I'm hoping to travel with someone to accompany me in my adventures. I'd also like to meet up with some 2+2 that are already there. I'm open to any suggestions or advice. This has been a dream for quite sometime and I'm finally going to do it.

ok so for some reason my thread about traveling to a different country got locked in travel section, and i cant update my original thread w/ new developments and people who move from the interested category to the 100% category. SO if you know of the right section to post a thread about that let me know. But i wanted a main thread where people could post questions, and if they are thinking about specifically joining a 2+2 poker condo in bangkok starting February of next year.

you see what generally happens is people say they are interested, but getting people to 100% be there in February And def commit 6 months is a different story, and a main thread set alone for updating is important.

Anyway once i find where i can post such a thread, w/o it being closed, ill be updating the thread as more people get in contact with me. PM me- letting me know if ur serious, and have the available 6 month time in feb. to do a complete move, letting us know what stakes you play, how old you are, if you have ever been, Your Msn+AIM+ SKYPE etc.

I am giving enough time, basically right now until march the visa processing fee is Free. also to get a 2 month visa with 30 day extension, u need to go the consulate in your state or country and hand in all the necessary paperwork, which may take weeks. or u could just buy plane ticket last minute then have 30 days, then do everything once ur in bangkok, but u'll have to leave country and come back to get more extensions either way. ne way its no big deal either way.

Don't worry if your new. plan is to all meet up beforehand in same hotel or place, and ill do a little showing the newbies around how to get around the entire city via skytrain, or subway, and how not to get ripped off constantly , what places are cool, what places are balla, and what places are extremely degen. its's super easy to get up like 3pm, eat at a restaurant, get drunk, easily get laid, party, then do it all again the next day. while i feel that's great and all, doing it a lot def wears u down and makes it hard to work/grind, so keeping things in balance is important, and not going crazy everyday.

Anyway a big part of this is all arriving around the same week or two week period, so we can all put the money down on whichever place is the best together, while at the same time securing our rooms. So this is not a random meetup thread/post or whatever/ "hey, i might be in bangkok in march or April is there a room available?" This is for people who can definitely be there during the same time in February, and all agree on the 6 month commitment together.

Pretty big assumption there if you ask me.

First of all you are assuming the place has a landline installed to begin with. Then you are assuming that the standard of customer service among Thai ISPs is the same as you might expect in a western country.

TIT.

If there is no landline installed (and there often isn't since cell phone access is ridiculously cheap in Thailand so very few people see the need for one), it could take months before the government workers actually bother to install your line. Then you have to make sure you got it installed by the right company, because some ISPs can't use other Telecoms copper and what have you.

Basically if you rent a place with no internet access and expect it to be up and running within a few days of moving in, you are going to be pretty sorely disappointed.

igott a belliev in the end guys end up banging bad girls, and pay 4 the privilege. like the majoriy of us.

p...........im referring good gals are the ones who dont choose partying as a career...................hohoho!

I know visas have been discussed ad nauseam but I have a brief question. I am leaving for Thailand Oct 14 and looking to mail in my passport and get a 2 entry 60 day visa. With the current free visas until March am I correct that I need to send in no fees just a return air bill?

Also I will be in Washington DC the Thursday through Sunday before I leave. Could I take my passport in Thursday and have the visa on Friday or would it be best to go ahead and mail in my passport now?

Thanks

Drunk farang in Phuket loses everything !!

There's a first time for everything I suppose......just had wallet stolen and lost everything !

Have 20 baht to my name !!

Got pickpocketed somewhere in Soi Bangla in Phuket and the bizarre thing is I ALWAYS leave at least one credit card and some cash in my hotel or hidden in my luggage......ALWAYS..... except this trip because.......

THIS COUNTRY FEELS SO SAFE

Have just felt so safe since I've been here.

So a warning.....It's just the same as anywhere....be careful, be sensible.....split your money and cards.

Only lost 20,000 baht so not end of world.

Hopefully one of the young ladies I've done business with will give me lend some money.....to eat with.

Hopefully the international banking system will sort me out quickly

Be vigilant ! Be careful !

Still an amazing place though.
