Sick, is this only available in BKK, or can I get this in Phuket and Chiang Mai?

I also learned recently on ThaiVisa that they are updating the internet all over beginning August

I use teamviewer, it is free but you need to have a computer in your home country or somewhere else to use that service. If you are from UK, then forget about it since I have the same problem as you and it only seem to be a problem using UK IPs atm.

Started about a month ago for me too. I use my computer back home as a vpn and have a few web servers that I use as a socks proxy. Skype quality sucked too but once I forced TCP for skype (disabled UDP) everything was crystal clear without using a proxy.

Are there any Australians who have gone and lived in Thailand for an extended period of time? Im thinking of going and living there for a year or so, was wondering if anyone had any troubles getting Visas?

What type of Visas do you all have? Are they tourist visas where your always applying for extensions and dong border runs or w.ever or do people who live there for a while have a type of visa that allows you to live in the country for "x" number of months or years or w.ever?

most are here on tourist visas. it is not that big of a hassle in the end

with one entry you get stamped for 60 days when you arrive and you can extend it for further 30 days for 1900 at any immigration office. after the 90 days total you have to do a border run.

i am not sure how bkk people do these usually but from phuket i usually fly to kuala lumpur. from departure to landing(phuket to phuket) it takes 5 hours so about 8-9 hours door to door.

you can get a non-immigrant visas too for various reasons like being married to a thai, have a child with a thai or for learning thai for example. they are usually valid for a year but you still have to leave the country every 90 days

No matter what kind of visa you have, you have do a border run every 3 months at the absolute best. The regular tourist visa gives you 2 months before you have to fly out and reapply.

wut?

first of all you can extend each entry on a tourist visa so you can stay 3 months per entry (60+30 days)

second, you can get multiple entries per visa. i've got a triple entry so i can stay almost 9 months with it without applying for a new visa, just do a border run twice

Still have to do a border run every 90 days, unless I have been doing a massive FAIL over the last 1.5 years
