Does anyone know what is current state of blocked sites/sites blocking thai ip's?
I am going to thailand for 6 weeks and would like to play some poker during that time. Can I play in PS without problems? Or betfred?

i have finally worked almost everything to move to thailand, just one minor issue with the visa, so i assumed it would be easy but from reading other forums seams a bit more tricky.
i am exempt for 30 day tourist visa, but only seams to work for 2 month every 6 months; from what i gathered what i want is a non - immigrant 'O'(other) visa for multi entries every 3months but the thai embassy is a bit far from where i live; i also read that some consolates give that visa and some dont, and i could try getting it in other country that is not mine; so.. can i just buy the tickets and then get it there or some other asian country or is it better to get it here? basically i want to know how 'hard' is it to get one

Where do you live?

Getting a visa shouldn't be a problem if you live in a Western Democracy.

If you live in Iran or something you might struggle.

I arrived in Nov 08, i had tourist visa for 6 months, 2x 3months (each 2 months with a 1 month addon). I did not have any problems with that. After 3 months i had to do a visa run, that was all.

If you want to stay longer u can look into the Non immigrant visa, its for 1y. I have this now.

I am norwegian, i got my first 2 months from thai embassy in norway. then i got the addon in korat. i got my second 2 month visa after a trip to laos. i got the addon for this one in bkk. I then applied for non-immigrant visa, and had to go to Nan. they send 2 policemen to check my story to my home. standard procedure. had to drive back again to Nan. but now i dont have go anywhere in 1y.

why are you illegible? portuguese can get the 30 day visa exempt when they arrive here. i dont see any reasons why you could not get a tourist visa also.

portuguese and most euros can not get visa on arrival(and it sucks anyway so it is better that we can not get that)

just go/call to the thai embassy in lisbon and ask what they need:

Royal Thai Embassy
Rua de Alcolena 12, Restelo, 1400 Lisbon
Tel: (3511) 3014848, 3015051, 3015151, 3017171

Anyone recommend a store/shop outlet in bangkok to buy a mobile phone and mobile internet connection for my laptop and what should I expect to pay?

Many thanks.

Buy a mobile phone (unlocked) from anywhere for like $40 ish. Get dtac SIM and the 105 baht 20hr/month data plan. Get mobile internet USB thing from Pantip Plaza or our house-- I actually have an extra USB mobile internet connection (does not work w/ visa 64bit) I got as backup-backup Internet but a couple guys have 64 bit so it's useless to them.

Okay, so I could probably find this on ThaiVisa, but whatever. What's to stop me from buying this flight, going to the airport, and just "missing" the flight and instead making a lap through customs/immigration to get a new visa?

Also in the USA there are many services you can mail your passport/application to domestically and they will personally take in your visa to the consulate and get you the visa, then mail it back within a week.

i guess by visa you mean a new 60 day stamp because you have a valid tourist visa or something?

i think they check where you come from and the stamps from that place. they write your flight number to your passport next to your entry stamp. not sure if they just look it from the arrival card or if they can check it from their computers

not sure though, never heard anyone trying and would not suggest trying it anyways

I got 1-2 call sim card now. Does this company have good enough edge in Phuket or should I use dtac?

I need nokia suite and a cable to use edge on a laptop from the phone right?

if you need internet for grinding and dont have access to adsl get CDMA.

afaik dtac should be better than 1-2-call if you have to use your phone to grind, not sure though

I'm planning to go to Chiang Mai in october, for few months and I talked to some peoples with the same plan more or less... I thought it could be easier to talk on a forum rather than by PM all the time.

Here is a small private forum where we could discuss about Thailand etc... Hope that's OK to post the link there.

If you know anybody interested by living there for a while, dont hesitate to give him the link !

Hey Guys,

I have been to Thailand before and I play profitable poker so I guess Im signing up asap!!

Simple questions really?

1. Initial cash allowance: 2k per month with 6months in the bank. This would be everything - rent, food, entertainment.
(of course, completely separate the poker roll)
2. Pre book x months or just get there and then look for an apartment?

The 2k idea is to support me while I'm still getting settled and adjust to the new ways - I would hope to grind whatever I need per month and then get lazy

cheers all.
