kayak.com gives me a few $450-500 round trip options (mostly with one changeover at an American airport).

Also I have to say Costa Rica is probably the best value for money with Aeroplan points.

You can usually do it for 45,000 points + around $125 fees. Way better value than say using points to go to Europe.
You got me thinking and checked again. Car rental was included as well, Ticket was $900.

Thinking about staying in Costa for a little over a week. Would like to grind and site-see. Where are the best games happening? Is there a beach town on the west coast that has an especially good game? Any info is appreciated.

There is a regular $1-2 in Sheraton's Hotel Casino in Escazú (City) and they run $2-$5 (higher upon request) three times a week. NLH is predominant.

Crocs Hotel has a huge casino in Jacó beach, but not sure what games if any are currently running.

I would say the best option would be to stay in a hotel near the action for a few days (You can take tours in the morning to the volcanoes or waterfalls etc and be back at the hotel before dinner). Then head out to the beach to just chill out...

Pura vida!

I'm looking to move to Costa Rica in a few months. Trying to find other poker players to live with. 2+2 should really have a community housing forum to network people traveling playing poker etc.

I saw the earlier post about the guy looking for a poker house to live at and you didn't have any info. But do you know of a forum or post that has poker players offering housing in Costa Rica?

I know a lot of pros are down there. Assisinato etc. And a lot of poker players travel down there. If you just look at the PokerStars flags you see a lot of Costa Rican flags that were formally American pros. Apestyles is down there.

But ya if you know how to get a hold of someone so I can secure a place to live.

As you know when you play poker it's a different lifestyle. Sometimes you are up for 2 days straight. Would be weird to live with locals who don't understand the lifestyle. Plus the support group of other pros would be good. And swapping action and rooting for/helping each other.

Let me know if you know how I can network to pros down there.

I'm excited to get to Costa. Never been but know it's an amazing place.

Cheers

Unfortunately I dont have that information, and as a once aspiring poker player myself I completely understand what you are saying and could only hope to get those details. Sorry I cant be of more concrete help. But anything else you might need like double checking information of places you could potentially stay or how to get around etc, Ill gladly do my best.

Quick response: Any beach in Costa Rica basically, no problems with Draft kings or poker.

Most known is Jacó, but personally I prefer the Guanacaste area. You can google any of those two and if you have any questions just let me know.

Pura vida!

I would choose Sámara or Playa Hermosa. Almost all of the bars have at least ESPN. But of course depending on your idea you can look up for a place which has Sky and purchase NFL package if you dont have a bar that has it. Most rentals include at least basic cable.

Crocs doesn't have poker tables, in Jaco you can play at Hotel Cocal. They usually have $1/2 and 2/5 on weekends occasionally, only one table

I think the hard part would be getting the people to commit as the shortest rental for a nice place would probably 6 months. Maybe getting 4-5 people would be the best.

I would also be interested to know about some of these average costs of living (drinks, transportation, rent, food, etc.)

The games run every evening except for one of the weekdays, forgot which one, I think Monday. Games are played in usd so no conversion problems. 2-5 runs on WEs depending on the players. Again, its just one table upstairs. Rake is standard. Better than nothing, but playing live is not what i'd go to jaco for

It has many variables...

You can get a very nice place for $1k+ month if you are thinking of entertaining guests or have visits, otherwise a small apartment goes for much less, if you even consider just a bedroom, waaaay less. ($200/300month).
Transportation wise, you can go out and party and move around with Uber so you know you wont get scammed, public transportation is kinda mmeeh in some places, no metro or subway. Train has only like 4 major stops.

You can go places where beer goes for less than a dollar and others where it will be $5, same goes for food. It also applies for beaches.
