Rent a phone at the airport.

I believe you can rent a micro sim but not a nano sim. LG is cheaper than olleh, but the battery on the device is not as good. id just rent the sim

an unlocked phone for the most part will always work around the world, but Korea does have some tricky rules. I think it only applies if you subscribe to a plan, you need to buy their phone, or something along those lines. my Korean wasn't good enough to full understand

I just had a coworker unlock a UK iPhone and get a noncontract Olleh sim. 3g, unlimited data, 44,000₩ per month. It's working. I just looked at it.

Which areas are considered the city center of Seoul? You know the best place to drink/club/meet up/party.

1. Gangnam
2. Gangnam (clubs), Hongik University/Itaewon (bars and less amazing clubs).

Gangnam for the rich and beautiful, Hongik for the uni students, Itaewon for the foreign crowd.

Clubs in korea are fun, I found that Club Answer and Club Ellui (both in Gangnam District, Apgu) were some of the top clubs in Korea. Answer was significantly smaller and attracted more of the elite, affluent 20's ages, while Ellui was just downright massive and often had free entries to bring in more numbers

I'm now the noob.

My friends and I are planning a 20 day trip in Korea, looking for 2 or 4 bedroom places. Is location important in this scenario? We will be going out thurs, fri, sat but other than that doing a bunch of sight seeing and eating lots of awesome Korean food.

Hey!

Where is the best academy to study Korean for a guy who's Korean is already ok/enough to understand every day conversations, but far from a good level (for those who know about TOPIK, I'm better than level 2, but level 3 seems a bit too hard).

I know people talked about sogang, kyung hee and yonsei in this thread before, but isn't there an academy near jamsil? All of them are an hour away from there and I don't like to commute

I really can't help you syous, it seems to be a complicated situation cause you can't really rent a place for such a short time.

I don't think location would be that important, since taxis are really cheap even late at night. But well, don't be too far away from Gangnam or Hongdae if you are planning to party often.

Konkuk University is right there. http://english.visitkorea.or.kr/enu/...jsp?cid=629061

My roommate attends this U when he's not Armying. But he's asleep. I'll ask him tomorrow morning if it's any good. If he knows he won't lie to me.

I don't know about Seoul but Jeju has summer places that you can rent for a month. You can contact a English speaking realtor and let them search for you.

is jeju a must see? We've got 20 days there so i'm thinking of definiteliy seeing Seoraksan and either Jeju or pyeongchang

Also what's the consensus on busan? Worth seeing for a weekend or are we better off staying in seoul to party on the weekend

1. No. It's your standard sleepy island
2. Busan is pretty cool. Different vibe and more chilled than Seoul.
3. I wouldn't skip a weekend in Seoul for one in Busan if I only had 20 days.

jeju is actually a sleepy island? Not that pretty/unique to visit? Mt. Hallasan looks sick

how many days/what would u recommend in busan?

If you are going to be here in August then a trip to Busan will be infinitely better than the best weekend in Seoul you can imagine. 1 million+ people on Haeundae beach, hot girls in bikinis everywhere, one of the few outdoor places in Korea where "hunting" (Konglish for pick up) is acceptable and encouraged plus a couple of Busan's best clubs literally 10 meters off the beach.

Not what I meant. I meant that i'm pretty sure if you can find short term places on Jeju it's probably much easier to find then in Busan or Seoul. I know a lady on Jeju who speaks great Korean but if you're only doing short visit then love hotel is fine.

Busan does have great clubs but you can't count out the number of amazing beaches Jeju has. Everyone of them is packed in the summer and it just depends on here you want to go. 2 of my buddies spend 3 years in Busan and loved it but they loved summer on Jeju too. Gl with your stay.

A weekend in Busan is definitely worth it, the club scene blew up in Seomyeon this past year afaik. And that's before you consider the party options at Haeundae and Kwangali.

If you're still undecided, just go to the facebook pages of Club Fix and Club Grid, that will probably make up your mind.

Month 4-5-9-10 by far. The other months are either too cold, or too hot!

seoraksan was fun, but i think its more of a honeymoon/ go with a bunch of girls/couples to a pension kind of thing

busan was alot of fun but i went with a couple of girls and a guy friend. one of the girls is actually from busan and basically told me the clubs suck. she was able to show us around which im sure made the biggest difference. would repeat again if i had a month in korea. probably worth seeing since its only 2.5 hours away by KTX (train). girls arnt as conservative and listening to satori everywhere was pretty cool.
